Introducing the Bikamper--a tent that quickly integrates with your bike to create a lightweight and compact, backcountry cycle camping shelter!

  • Small, light and versatile, it utilizes the bicycle itself which eliminates the need for heavy, cumbersome tent poles
  • This personal shelter utilizes the bicycle frame and front wheel in place of conventional tent poles
  • Fork anchor axle mounts to the dropouts and has tines on it that get pushed into the ground like a tent stake
  • To further stabilize the bike, there are two draw-down chords that attach to the handle bars and get staked to the ground on both sides of the bike
  • The combination of these two things makes both the bike and tent very stable
  • Bikamper is constructed of durable, waterproof coated 45D ripstop nylon
  • Fly is constructed of fully waterproofed, durable nylon ripstop and offers an additional layer of protection
  • Three mesh windows provide ventilation and stargazing on pleasant nights
  • Both body and fly pack down to a tiny, space saving size and weigh just 2 lbs. 15 oz.
  • Includes fork anchor, stakes, cords, accessory bag and stuff sack
  • Internal hang loops offer contact points for hanging items inside tent

          Comments about Topeak Bikamper Tent:

I took this tent on a one month, 2,000 mile tour and spent most nights in this tent (except when visiting friends along the way). When we were in Colorado and Wyoming (altitude, low humidity) this tent worked great (though there was moderate condensation inside the tent each morning). I liked the security it provided my bicycle at night without the need for a bicycle lock. I found the rain fly to work adequately, though I only dealt with rain once.

On the down side, when I was riding through South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas in late July, the heat and humidity made sleeping in this tent nearly unbearable. I will use this tent again in some settings, but not all.

            Comments about Topeak Bikamper Tent:

can only assume that the reviewer who gave this 5 stars has not yet used the tent. hard to set up, poorly designed fly, poor entry/exit, no consideration for condensation (woke up soaked), tippy like a canoe with an itchy hound in the bow.

              Comments about Topeak Bikamper Tent:

I'd have to agree with the other comments about this tent being a condensation magnet. I spent the night at about 3200 ft, temp around 30 degrees F.....when I woke up in the morning the tent wall/ceiling was COVERED with moisture. So much so that it was rolling down the side of the tent in big beads. If I had to spend more than one night our there in this tent I think it would be a big problem.......

The tent is very lightweight, east to set up once you read the directions, and it is easy to pack up as well. Pack also fits very nicely on handlebars.
On the inside, the tent felt roomy enough (I'm 6'1", 230lbs) for me, my gear, and my Scotty.

One other major drawback - the tent must be staked to the ground. A problem if you'f biking on slick rock or hardpack.....or just rocky earth.

In the end, I returned the Bikamper, and intend to buy an ultralight backpacking tent....it will be just as light/compact and will easily fit in a pack/pannier/rack. Also will be stand alone and not have to be pegged to the ground.
