Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
This is my first backpacking tent. It is lightweight and sturdy. It was recommended by a thru hiker of the AT and a backpack trip leader. I have used it on several trips. It is easy to set up; easy two pole clip on design, sturdy stakes easy to use, rain fly easy clip addition to stakes feature. Takes only 10 minutes or less to set up. You can sit up in the front of the tent. It is well ventilated and an all around great value for the money. I would recommend this tent to any solo packbacker. It also has room for my pack and my dog has enough room to sleep inside on the side or at my feet.

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
A fantastic tent. The shape of the floor may seem odd at first, but that's what makes this tent great.
First of all, if you are tall person (say 5'10" up) then this is tent for you. Unlike other one person tents, I don't find myself squashed up against the ends/sides. This is attributed to the shape of the floor.
Also because of the shape, you get very usable storage space at the sides and head of the tent. I can have pretty much the entire contents of my pack in the tent with me without issue.
This tent sets up extremely fast and easily. It takes just two stakes, two poles, and you're done. More stakes and lines can be added for extremely windy conditions.
Also I have to comment on the stakes that come with the tent. They are fantastic. At first they look like the cheap aluminum ones that bend easily. But these ones are hardened and after more than a year of use they have yet to bend on me. That's saying a lot considering the hard and rocky soil of Southern California.

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
This is an excellent choice for solo backpacking where weight, compactness, and ease of setup are concerns. It shed water well during many days of rain, but condensation inside the tent and inside the rainfly were problems when the weather was warm and damp. I've used this tent in a variety of conditions and temperatures for 10 days and have been very happy with it overall.

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
I have used this tent on average for 15 nights/year for the past 3 years in the Red River Gorge, Smokies, UP of Mich and Rocky Mountains. It has a lot more space than most freestanding tents and is just as easy to pitch. There is room to sit up, plenty of shoulder space and storage pockets on both sides. A stake in the front and back and it is ready to use in a few minutes. It has performed exceptionally well and kept me sheltered and dry in temps that ranged from the 90's to the high 20's in wind and rain. I wish the vestibule were larger. But at 5'6", I can put my 3300 & 5200ci packs inside the tent above my head and it works fine for me. Taller people can either put their heads or feet on the pack or leave it outside. Overall this solo tent is as functional and comfortable as it gets.

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
Like the write-up says, this tent has plenty of room for tall people like me! It's very well built, and is easy to set up in the dark & breaks down in a hurry. I've had no problems with condensation - the tent stays bone-dry in warm and cold weather. The only drawback is the tiny vestibule - definitely can't fit a pack underneath, and it's difficult to get in & out in the rain without getting a little water inside. However, that's a reasonable compromise for such a lightweight tent!

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
This is a great tent for one person. I have used it on the coast and in the mountains. It is lightweight and easy to set up. My only problem is it has no head room for sitting up. I know I must sacrifice for weight, but it would be nice to be able to sit up and have a couple inches over my head (i.e. for putting on shirts or just sitting up). I am average height (5 foot 11).

Comments about Sierra Designs Light Year CD Tent:
Nearly as light as a bivy but much warmer and provides weather and bug protection. Superlight and super easy to set up. No worries about not being freestanding. I don't want to sleep on granite anyway and in the mountains you should stake out any tent.......the weight savings and low price can't be beat.
Fairly narrow, but it's a one man lightweight tent. Ample headroom. Looks great too.
Pleasantly surprised that on a cold night with the fly on how warm this tent kept me, slept with my sleeping bag zipper open at 38F.
