Experienced a series of failures right at the valve stem. Two tubes failed at seams in the tube. Went through 5-6 tubes in a couple months, none repairable and none road hazard related. Slightly better luck with the long-stems, which have a non-threaded section.

I agree with the rest of the reviewers. These are cheap flimsy tubes and mine blew immediately b/c of valve stem issues. Slightly different issue: while fixing flat on the road, the screw nozzle thing broke off. Fortunately I was able to get home but when I filled the tire up to normal pressure the entire valve just blew. I'll be returning this tube asap.

Right out of the box my tube was leaking air where the valve connects to the tube. REI needs to rethink the company from where they source these defective tubes. I only wish that I had read the reviews first. On a positive note, I did get my money back.

Have had many Novarra tubes in different sizes. Most would split at the stem base. The latest one split at a seam after about 10 PSI. Took tube back and told the clerk about the problems I had experienced. She tried to school me on tube installation and inflation saying she worked in the service department. Funny thing is I don't ever have this problem with other brand superlight tubes. I also have perfectly well maintained Easton EA90 SLX wheels, so It's not that. These tubes are bad, and I wish REI would change suppliers! Read the reviews and improve your product!

I paid 50% more than I pay for similar tubes at my local bike shop and then saw upon opening them up that the stem is not threaded. If your tire is at 70% pressure level and all you are doing is topping off the tire that is an advantage in not generating as much wear and tear on the tire pump. I have used the threaded style for more than 40 years and riding thousands of miles on multi-week tours and this has never been a concern. But when I have a flat and need to pump up the new/patched tube, I want a threaded stem with a nut that keeps the stem up against the rim so I am not damaging the stem to tube seal by pressing the stem into the tire when pushing on the tire pump. This is where tires are easily damaged and this is more costly to remedy than a tire pump washer.

I thought... well, I'm not really a hardcore rider, maybe they aren't all thaaaat bad...

and well... the other reviews weren't kidding. I had three of these blow right next to the valve stem in the same exact place - exactly like everyone else said. Next time I'll believe what I read on the internet =).

This is a premium priced tube, with budget qualities. The smooth valve stem makes it impossible for a tire pump to grip.

When I used this tube I bent the plunger on the valve a little bit with my pump. When I tried to bend it back to continue filling the tire it snapped off. I will not be buying any Novara tubes in the future. (Nor any other Novara product for that matter.)

These tubes doesn't have a threaded stem wall, so it is impossible to lock them on wheels using the lock nut provided on some other brand tubes.

Get Kenda tube instead, they are cheaper and have threaded stem wall.
