Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 96 oz.:
Used this on an AT section hike earlier this year, and it has now earned a place as a staple in my backpack. It's lightweight, attaches securely to my water filter, and stands upright when full. Rolls up nicely to save space when empty. Definitely recommended!

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 96 oz.:
These containers are great if you are purifying/filtering water on a backpack trip. I fold it up (empty) and put it in my back. When you set up your camp somewhere along the trail, I attach my First Need purifier to it and fill it up for the evening camp water. Use it to transfer to your water bottles or camelback the next morning and you are off on the trail again. Very handy.
However, it does have one drawback. Continously folding this container will weaken it along the folded seems and it will eventually crack and leak. If using it as I do, expect to replace it periodically.

Holds alot of water considering it's light weight. Will get discolored if you use iodine tablets for water purification.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 96 oz.:
I have used these for about ten years, on long (up to 6 days) desert backpacks in the Cabeza Prieta in Arizona. My life has depended on them as there is NO reliable water out there. They do need more care than rigid bottles (don't use them as a pillow, silly!), and they don't last forever (I'm now replacing my oldest ones, which have given me 6 or 7 good years). I love that they compress as you drink up, so there is never any slosh slosh slosh sound in the pack to spoil the profound silence of the desert. I can't say enough good things about them.

Must be cared for and only folded along manufacturers creases. Can develop abrasion leaks also. Can be field repaired with supper glue.

For long dayhikes in the AZ heat, I prefer to carry alot of water- good training. This cantene fits easily in my daypack, and I have enough water to last all day. It has no taste to it, and rolls up to nothing when empty- weighs nearly nothing, as well. An excellent accessory whatever your pursuit.

I love this canteen. The idea that it compacts as you drink it is so simple yet brilliant. Its big enough to use while camping to transport water or to provide water for several people on a hiking trip. I think this product is a must for backpackers because of its space management and many uses. Also features a wide mouth to easily pour much water and that attaches directly to many filters.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 96 oz.:
I used to carry the even bigger nalgene container with the zip lock style of closure. I was sick of struggling to snap the seal closed, especially in cold weather, only to find it spilled its contents later - such a pain after filtering all that water. This new size is very versatile for either use in camp or carrying on the trail. It is a pleasure to filter directly into the container as its opening is compatible with most filters. Get two so you have plenty of water for dinner and breakfast! It does stain if you use iodine pills...

I drink a lot of water. On normal walks and hikes I bring at least two Camel-back reservoirs with me. The 96 oz canteen allows me to easily refill my Camel-backs and carry extra water with ease. As you use up water you can roll up the canteen to further reduce it's size in your pack. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs to carry a lot of water as efficiently as possible.

Comments about Nalgene Wide-Mouth Cantene - 96 oz.:
I bought this at the start of summer. Going on hikes and to the dog park, I often carried a bottle of water for myself as well as two bottles for my dog. When my brother's dog came to visit, two bottles were no longer enough for the canines. I needed something that could carry a lot of water but wouldn't take up a huge amount of space forever. This sturdy bag folds right down and collapses as you drain the water out of it so it gets smaller as you trek. The wide mouth makes for easy filling (my friend bought the Platypus for her dog and finds it difficult to fill up because of the tiny opening).
