    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by fromVersitile I've just used the poles on a long mountain trekking at Teresopolis (Rio de Janeiro) and they did a great job. I've been using other poles for many years. These from exped get very small, which is perfect when you have some rock climbing passages on the trail (so you put them on the pack), or just to but on the pack for a small route that you won't come back to the base. They are very light. Great grip, and fast colapsing - the first 2 parts have a fixed size, so it makes easy and fast. They do not seem to be the sturdiest ones, but I didn't have any problems walking dozens of kilometers, thousands meters up and down, with heavy backpack on very bad terrain (mud and rocks).

by frompack beautifully Took poles to Ireland and used on and off road. Easy to adjust but when extended too far they did easily pull apart. They also were easy to put back together. Tip covers used on pavement wore through quickly. I will have to buy replacements. Being able to pack them in my suitcase (can't do this with any other poles)made them definitely worth the purchase.

by fromexcellent for hiking and snowshoeing These poles actually lock in place when you extend them, so there's no need to constantly tighten, as there is with other poles once they start wearing out. I'm assuming that because they do lock, that these will last quite a bit longer than traditional twist-locking poles. Another pro is that these poles are also quite small when you shrink them down, so they're easy to pack. It did take a little bit to figure out how to lock, unlock, and then shrink them back down, but you figure it out pretty quickly.
