REI in the Community

From local educational events to volunteer efforts to protect natural spaces to partnerships with regional and national nonprofits, REI is working with local communities to preserve the environment and get people outside.

REI's Giving Philosophy

REI dedicates 3 percent of the previous year's operating profit to our annual giving budget. Our aim: to help conserve natural spaces in order to enhance opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Every year, REI mobilizes thousands of volunteers to help protect natural places.

REI Nonprofit Partnerships in 2012

REI stores promoted more than 750 outdoor volunteer projects. More than 87,000 people got involved!
Programs supported through REI grants engaged nearly 397,000 people in 2.8 million hours of volunteer work on public lands.
More than 260 nonprofit organizations received funding from REI.
REI awarded $3.9 million in grants to nonprofits!
