Don’t buy these!
The heel strap hangs right off the back of the sandal, and therefore, so does your child’s heel! Only the front straps are adjustable - the heel strap is stitched into place. I ordered these online for my daughter TWICE in two different sizes, and even though both sizes could be adjusted to fit the front of her foot, the heel straps (and the back of her heels) hung over the edge of the sandals on both pair! What a complete waste of time. These should be recalled.
a perfect fit
Normally a 6/6 1-2 in women's, the child's size 4 fits like a glove! I have a very high arch so I've been looking for the right pair of Chaco sandals for a while now. I couldn't pass these up, and as you've likely seen in other Chaco reviews, they were wearable right after purchase, no time for breaking in. I took these sandals on a tour through Europe this summer and they were perfect, no rubbing on my feet and the support was exactly what I needed for 12+ hour days. Stop hesitating and buy the Chacos :)
Straps are loose on foot
My son has pretty skinny feet (7 yrs old, 55 lbs) and these look like I've put center blocks on his feet. They did however fit my daughters feet better (4yrs old, 45 lbs), because she has chunkier feet. Aside from that, really the one thing I don't love is that you can only adjust the one strap that goes across the top of the foot. The two straps around the toe and the one in the back around the heel are fixed where they are and loose and so they don't fit close to the foot at all. They look like they are just floating above the foot without touching it. I returned the pair for my son and kept the pair for my daughter, so if your child has a chunkier foot they should work ok.
I've had a chaco tan for the last 3 years
I've worn my one pair of chacos almost continuously for the last 3 years. These are my approach shoes for climbing, default baby hiking shoes, and general city walking shoes. In a pinch I've skated with them too but would recommend other shoes for that purpose! My treads have finally worn down, so I'm planning on retiring these shoes and replacing them with the same exact pair. I wear a women's 6.5, but the kids 5 fit me better at half the price. Each year I've broken them out as soon as the snow melts
Best Next to bare foot
My 5 year old got these and will not take them off. He does not want to wear any other shoe.
Great sandals; run slightly big
Love my Chacos, so I had to get some for my girls. Although Chaco recommends the opposite, I recommend ordering the smaller if you are in between sizes. That worked for both my daughters. Although I like the look of the double strap version better, I find the single strap version much easier to adjust, especially for kids.
i walk in these Chaco sandals every day!
These sandals are the most comfortable and supportive shoes I've ever owned. After buying my first pair a year ago, I bought 3 more in different colors. The arch support makes the so comfortable, I can walk in beach sand, hike trails and shop in stores with cement-based floors- never have foot pain! Seriously, they are great !!
Great high quality sandal
I should first say that I'm a 24 year old woman! I buy nearly everything I can (that isn't creepily childish--hot pink or silly designs) in the kid's section. So if you're a petite woman, these will probably fit you! I'm 5'2", 105 pounds, typically a womens 6 in shoes and a kids 4. These are great. You'd never guess they're from the kid's section. They're comfortable, easy to clean, great for getting a perfect fit with the adjustable straps, and great for those who like open-toed shoes without the discomfort flip flops will give you. They did take a while to get used to the pronounced arch (I think I have narrow, naturally high-arching feet), but now that I have, I love that. Feels more natural I guess? My only complain is I wore them to walk to a store about 3 blocks from my house the other day, and on my way back I ended up getting a gnarly blister between my right big toe and middle (???) toe. It hurt, and kinda bummed me out. I haven't taken them camping or hiking yet, so I can't say if it would happen then. Could be I need to break them in more... who knows. Overall, I definitely recommend them. I'm thinking of getting some for my mom who has major foot problems but likes wearing sandals--the straps and high arch kind of hold your foot together. A recommendation for sure :)
Super durable: perfect for hand-me-downing!
I have 5 kids. Rather than buy cheap sandals that wear out with every kid, every years, I buy the oldest Chacos when they go on sale and then, because Chacos are so durable, I can hand them down to the other 5 kids. It’s better on my wallet and better for the environment than buying cheap sandals every year. I’ve gotten 4 years of solid wear on the first pair of Chacos I bought for my oldest child. It’s now on its 3rd child and they still probably have another 3 years at of life on them (perfect for going through 2 or even 3 more kids). I haven’t found a more durable sandal out there.
she loves them!
The adjustable fit is wonderful and my daughter says they are so comfy! So glad we went with these.
