The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated4out of5byyarbdogfromMust have for the insulated kleen kanteeMakes drinking from the kanteen much easier, no more removing the top each time. Doesnt reduce cold/hot retention too much. Will leak somewhat.

Rated1out of5byMeegofromDysfunctional productThis lid is supposed to convert the Kleen Kanteen into more of an insulated hot or cold beverage mug. I use it with hot tea or hot coffee. The lid leaks and this renders it to be dysfunctional. Why would anyone want a lid that leaks? let alone why would anyone design a lid that leaks? Even a minor jarring, such as sustained from pushing open a door for someone behind you with the cup in hand will cause a few drops to spurt out and stain clothes.
The snap-tight hinged lid on the competing Hydro Flask product (also sold by REI) works like a legit lid. Amazing but true. REI should not be even selling the Kleen Kanteen lid.

Rated4out of5byABP in NCfromSo handy for coffee consumption!I really enjoy using this cafe cap on my 20oz insulated Klean Kanteen thermos! It makes it way easier to drink coffee on my drive into work (compared to just screwing off the loop cap lid and drinking straight from the bottle), since it controls the flow of liquid. My beverage still stays hot for a long time with the cap on, though I haven't tried it for longer than a few hours. Bottom line, this is meant to convert your Klean Kanteen thermos into something more along the lines of your typical travel coffee mug. Of course it's not going to be spill-proof - one look at its design will tell you it's like any other travel coffee mug lid, plus the company doesn't claim it's spillproof either! If the bottle is full to the top, you will get a little liquid leak around the drinking opening as you get in the car and tip it around a bit, but it's no worse than any other travel coffee mug. Just keep it upright and you're fine.
Would it be better if it WERE actually spillproof? Sure! But until I come across a travel coffee mug lid that actually is, I'm not going to criticize this product. For its purpose, this cafe cap is great and I think it's totally worth the few dollars to make my hot beverage more quickly and easily enjoyed on a daily basis :)

Rated2out of5byMarkG2fromDon't pack it when fullI have always been a fan of Klean Kanteen products. I bought the 16oz insulated bottle because it fit in my Keurig. The bottle keeps my coffee hot as long as it stays in the bottle. Any slight tip off vertical results in a spill. I forgot once and put it my bag on the way to work, this resulted in a coffee soaked lunch and no coffee for the day.

Rated4out of5byPeter the ScouterfromGood as is, but could use refinementThis is what it is. A simple lid for beverages. Klean Kanteen makes it very clear that it is not spillproof, which isn't a make-or-break feature on this sort of item for me. However, it would be nice. The beverage drains more completely than most cafe lids I've used on insulated beverage containers. The lip on the drinking side is fairly large, but I'm not sure it would be superior without it. The ridge used for turning the lid to open/close it tends to bump my nose a little, but it's not really annoying. It's just there.
As long as you know what this is and don't expect it to exceed its designed purpose, it should serve you well. This is a convenience lid, not a storage lid.

Rated2out of5bybonnesantefromDoes the trick but could use improvementThe Cafe Lid does precisely what it should: provides easy access to your beverages without having to screw off a lid. My only complaints are that it has leaked a few drops when I tilted my Klean Kanteen to drink out of it. Perhaps the gasket wasn't completely sealed around the threads. It leaked from the base of the lid and I was annoyed, since I was drinking hot tea. That has only happened once though. Also, when I take my first sips after screwing on the lid, the liquid doesn't flow easily. After that, it'll splash into my mouth without warning, which has scalded my tongue. I am now very cautious about using it with hot beverages.

Rated5out of5byDancingWillowfromBest Cafe Cup Ever!!!I received a "16oz Insulated" Klean Kanteen Mug with cafe cap and loop cap as a gift. I've used it now for 6 months and this is the BEST CAFE MUG EVER! I enjoy it even more that my "Thermose" brand mug. With the "cafe cap" attached a hot tea will stay hot for up to 8 hours under normal room temperatures and will stay warm after sitting in a below freezing car for 6 hours (in snowy Denver). I'm sure if I used the loop cap, the performance would be even better.
I don't know if the REI website says that the cafe cap isn't leak proof, but it's VERY EXPLICET on the Klean Kanteen website that it is NOT leak proof. If you want a leak proof lid use the loop cap. The cafe cap screws onto the thermal cup snugly and I've never had a problem with it.
The cafe cap is super easy to clean, just pop off the swivel part of the cap and wash (either in dishwasher or by hand).
I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to keep their drinks HOT for long periods of time.

Rated2out of5bymscar1012fromBeware!Although its a good idea... and it seems to be the only alternative to the splashguards that fit the Nalgene bottles... its absolutely not spill proof. I went to a wide mouth klean kanteen because steel bottles are generally higher quality compared to a Nalgene bottle. I loved my Nalgene bottle, but after ALOT of use, and dragging it around EVERYWHERE, a stainless bottle is worth the money, EXCEPT when you can't get a flippin' splashguard for it. I toss my bottle around constantly, and this cap is NOT at all what I wanted it to be. It does a great job of limiting the amount of liquid rushing towards your face, but let the bottle tip more than 45 degrees in any direction and it'll start to spill out, unless the bottle is only half full, then you get a little bit more leeway. Not to mention, if your drink a lot of water and prefer the 40oz bottle, this cap makes the bottle a pain in the butt to carry around. There's no loop to grab a hold of.
