Comments about eGear Tag-It Safety Light:
Bought this device to hang on my dog's collar so I can find him in the dark on hikes and to distinguish him from the local wildlife (not a good idea to give a coyote a hug in the dark, they don't really appreciate it).
Prior to the hike, I clipped this onto my dog's collar and within a few hours found it laying on the floor of the house. The clip wasn't broken, it just doesn't have a very strong spring gate, so the occasional dog scratching at the collar popped it off easily. I fixed this with a nice strip of duct tape over the spring gate on the clip. After a 10 day 150 mile hike, this light was still attached.
The light is incredibly bright and flashes every 2 seconds when turned on. It is weather proof and trail proof, so no worries there. Turning it on is as simple as twisting the plastic reflector dome to the right.
It is claimed that this light can be seen at over a mile distance. I would say that claim is accurate, however, in the forest, unless you have a perfect line of sight, you won't see the light. It doesn't project like the flash of a camera or emergency vehicle. But if you are in the general vicinity, you will see this light without a problem.
It can also be used to attach to equipment caches and other hikers to find them easily.
Beyond the weak clip for the light, I would highly recommend this product.
