Comments about Hi-Tec Lynx Trail Mid WP Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:
I really like these boots. The pink contrast stitching was initially a turn-off to me because I take my hiking seriously and, however problematic this statement might be, I do not feel like pink boots help reflect that. (As a small woman, it can sometimes be hard enough to feel strong when hiking with larger, male companions without throwing pink accents & floral details into the mix.) However, thankfully the pink isn't glaring and so isn't that big of a deal after all, and the great dusty gray-brown color and trim form of the boots makes up for it. I ordered these boots along with a pair of the Hi-Tec V-Lite s and am keeping these but returning the V-Lites. While the V-Lites are very rugged and would probably be better for intense, long backpacking trips, they are also almost twice as heavy as the Lynxes. That may not sound like a big deal, but for someone my size (5'2", 115 lbs) that extra weight makes a big difference, especially if you do more day hiking than long backpacking trips and thus wouldn't even benefit very frequently from the extra ruggedness of the V-Lites. These boots also have better stability & grounded-ness than my old Hi-Tec Altitude boots. Really my only complaint, other than the pink stitching, is that the tongues of the Lynxes are a bit stiff, which means it requires more effort to get the laces appropriately tight around the ankles, but overall, they're comfortable, lightweight, and a delightfully affordable price.
