I bought this bag for my wife to use in her commute. It looks nice and seems versitile, but it didn't work the best while on the bike. The attachments are positioned low on the bag so that the top six inches are above the rack. Also, the drawstring enclosure excludes the top 4-6 inches of the bag and makes it much smaller than it first appears.

I have a daily 10 mile commute to and from work and currently use a small timbuktu messenger bag (great bag, have had it for 5 years and still use it and love it) to hold my laptop and lunch. I have been in the market for either a bigger bag or a pannier to use in addition to my laptop bag, so I can easily bring a change of clothes and other miscellaneous items. A bag I could also use for around the city and then easily carry into the gym, a cafe or a bar.

I was attracted to this bag because of its versatile features - it latches on to my bike rack and I can carry it has a shoulder bag OR a backpack. I also like that you zip over the attachment. It is very easy to carry around and great for holding extra clothes, a jacket, a book, gym gear, or even bringing a few beers and snack to a BBQ.

The only features that I found disappointing is that there isn't an attachment for the bottom of the bag, although I haven't had a problem yet with it bouncing around. If it does start to bounce around I imagine I could just use a bungee to attach it to the rack tighter. It would also be nice if it were a watertight bag, but I can sacrifice that for an easy to carry, versatile bag. The only other thing I would like (but not necessary) would be additional smaller compartments for organizing keys, wallet, phone, or other small random things. Overall, great bag, but could benefit from a few minor upgrades.

My wife bought this to have a nice bag that is easy to carry off the bike. The Detours bag seemed to fit the bill, since it can be used as both a hand bag and a rucksack.Unfortunately, the the hooks that allow it to be used like a pannier are not attached robustly enough. After very little lightly loaded use both screws lost their nuts and pulled out of the bag. An easy fix, to be sure, but unacceptable for a bag costing [$]. They should switch to riveted hooks like my super-durable Lone Peak camping bags.Will return and look for something more durable.
