      This one actually wasn't too bad. I mean, come on, we're still a long way from gourmet food here, but when you're a long way from the nearest fine restaurant, you just eat what you got. Right? The Tamale Pie was a late meal at a remote camp ground after a long day's ride on the motorcycle. The freeze dried industry still has a way to go but things are definitely improving.

        This makes a great lunch or dinner for backpacking. It's very flavorful, has plenty of meat and good texture. I have a very low tolerance for spicy food, but we always bring a package of sharp cheddar cheese on backpacking trips and a few slices of that mixed in was enough to cut the spice for me.

            There isn't a whole lot out there that is gluten free. This one is and we like it just fine. It is spicy like Mexican food but not excessive. We like mild to medium salsa which is the hotness of this meal. I make my own meals, but we always take ready made ones like this for those times when we have been hiking all day, we are exhausted and the weather sucks. It is instant and that is a plus. The stuff I make myself has to be cooked some so that takes more time and fuel. My husband and I can recommend this meal to anyone who enjoys Mexican food. It's good and tasty.

              I bought this product because it is gluten-free and looked like something that would be tasty while camping. It was excessively hot and spicy, to the point that I threw the rest away after just 2 bites. I would not recommend this product unless you have a toilet nearby when camping/backpacking, and want to breathe fire!
