Comments about Alite Mantis Chair:
I have the monarch butterfly chair, and that is a really good chair, for back country camping or canoeing. I really like it. However, this chair is great! More comfortable, more stable. Both work best on hard, stable surfaces. Hard dirt or stone is best. Neither will work on soft surfaces like sand or snow.

Comments about Alite Mantis Chair:
I'm an avid backpacker/camper and this is the best chair I have ever found. The Mantis chair is extremely comfortable, lightweight and compact. It is perfect for long backpacking trips, the beach, or pretty much anything outside.

Comments about Alite Mantis Chair:
Great chair, much more comfortable than the Monarch Butterfly model. Weighs in less than 2lbs. and you don't have to balance in it. Low enough to the ground to cook but keeps your back side off it. Packs down very small and unlike some other camp chairs, you wont have a big frame strapped on to your pack. High cost, but for an older guy like me, the comfort and small packed size is worth the price. Youtube video posted.

Comments about Alite Mantis Chair:
I've been meaning to buy a portable chair that I can take on my hiking and backpacking trips. After doing some extensive research online, I finally found this. There's hardly any reviews out there, so I decided to go ahead and purchase one here online.
Needless to say, this chair is awesome! It's very light and compact, about as long as my forearm. Setup is super easy, like 10-15 seconds easy. The concept is like setting up a tent. The poles seem to be very well constructed and very durable, same as the seat. This chair is very comfortable with a relaxed position. I normally carry this in the side pockets of my backpack, where bottles usually go, and it's secured by the side compression straps. I love this chair so much that I bought two, one for me and my girlfriend.
If I were to comment on any downside, it would probably be the price, but I'm assuming that the money went to the quality of the construction--it really does show. It would also be nice if there was a way to implement some kind of padded headrest and cup holder, but that's just me being greedy. Needless to say, you will be very happy to have one.
