        Comments about Keen Cabo Flip-Flops - Men's - 2011 Closeout:

I just about live in flip-flops. I wanted these to replace an old pair of Surfs that have held up remarkably well over the years (unlike a pair of Tevas that were light but not durable). Unfortunately, the 14s seem to run a full size too small. I'll be handing them down to my teen-aged son. Except for the size, these seem to fit the bill -- comfortable, light, and durable.

            Comments about Keen Cabo Flip-Flops - Men's - 2011 Closeout:

pay no attention to previous review.
Lumpy = slight arch support + barely discernible other accommodations to contours of a human foot.
Squishy = EVA foam insole & footbed.
            Both good things.

These are thoughtfully-designed well-made workaday flip-flops. They're thinner, flatter and more dense than the Tevas they're superseding under my bed. The Tevas were dreamy soft when new and made almost no flippy-floppy noise but the foam gradually compressed and the soles wore smooth and picked up imbedded thorns and stones. Softness has its detriments. These Keens should last longer. In particular the tread pattern might still function toward the end of their lives. Ironically for shower shoes, the Tevas became treacherously slippery top and bottom when wet, a serious problem around here, as well as squeaky, which is merely annoying. These Keens are better on all counts so far.

They do have a rank industrial solvent smell, an artifact of manufacture, but a couple of days out of their plastic shipping bag should solve that. I'd hate working in their warehouse, though.

In sum, these aren't revolutionary nor even extraordinary sandals. They are exactly what they claim to be with typical Keen quality materials and construction. I only wrote this review to counter a condemnation based on unwarranted expectations or perhaps highly idiosyncratic preferences. In the world of flip-flops, these are darn good ones.

              Comments about Keen Cabo Flip-Flops - Men's - 2011 Closeout:

I don't normally wear flip flops, but we went to Hawai'i last winter and I needed something to wear at the beach. These were surprisingly comfortable and lightweight. The toe strap is very flexible and soft--perfect for my feet since I'm not used to having something there. I found myself wearing these things not only to the beach, but also around the house where we stayed, out to eat, to the shopping areas...everywhere! They're sturdier than el cheapo sandals, but not top shelf in terms of quality. My soles were not lumpy--they were just fine.

Ordered online --- Returning them right away. I love my Keen hiking shoes, but man, these are the worst sandals I've ever had. The soles feel lumpy and squishy. I can't figure out why Keen would put their name on this product. Major fail.
