by fromExcellent product! I bought this to replace a neoprene product that I have disliked intensely for years. This mask blocked wind and cold but did not breath at all, resulting in wet cold skin and fogged goggles/glasses. This Gore product might be perfect! Though it is marketed as a cycling product, today I used it while alpine skiing in temperatures that varied between 1-9 degrees F. The WindStopper kept my lower face warm while channeling warm moist air through the holes as intended. Best of all, my face stayed dry AND my goggles did not fog up! It was a powder day, so there was some exertion involved. I was very pleased with the overall breathability, and my skin stayed dry. I will be purchasing several more as gifts, and an extra for myself. Great product, and I hope REI will continue to carry it.

by fromNice idea, poor execution The good: -It keeps your face warm. I tried it out on a 35F morning and i was warm (while it was on). -fits around the face reasonably well. The Bad: -While the fit is good when you wear it standing up, once you crane your neck on the bike it has trouble staying put. It kept sliding down and i was unable to adjust it tight enough to stay put. -Wind noise was extreme. Riding at 10mph, the flow noise over my ears was about the equivalent of 25-30 mph. It was so loud i could not hear cars behind me...a significant issue. -The biggest deal breaker for me was that the lack of breath-ability caused my glasses to fog up in under 2 minutes. The vent holes are just not sufficient unless you only breath through your nose. The wind stop material just doesn't let enough air through to prevent the bulk of your breath from going out the top of the mask. I tried adjusting several times, but each time ended up blinded by fogged lenses at 5am on the road. I ended up taking it off after a few attempts. Bottom line, i will be returning this for something that breathes better.
