Doesn't work as shown in video
I bought this for a family beach trip. We have used this for a couple of days now. It is okay and some sand does go through it, but the video makes it look like you can just shake it gently and it will magically be clean. This is not the case. Also, wet sand stays stuck to it for a long time.
a better tarp
Replaced the Tyvek tarp under my tent with this groundcloth. Sand and dirt don't accumulate on top now and water doesn't pond under the tent. Material seems much sturdier and will protect bottom of tent better. A much better way to go
I love this product
I bought this for a family trip to the beach, and it worked great. I have the 8x8 version, and we had a nice sand free area to relax on the beach. The sand just sifts through it, even very fine gulf coast sand. Will take on next scout camp out to see how it works in different setting.
Had to have one!
When I saw this and read about its purpose and construction, I had to have one. This kept the pickers, stickers, dirt and sand inside my tent to a minimum. It was no hassle to sweep, shake and store til next time. Friends noticed and said, "What's this thing?". By the end of the trip they were saying, "I really like this thing". It's quite a thing!
better than a beach towel sand free mat
This is a great product. I bought for use at the beach and we have used it regularly, 1-2 times each month, for over two years. It helps keep the sand off of our towels. During clean up you can expect to bring sand home with you because sand is so sticky. However, this is the best thing I've used at the beach and I've tried, just towels, bamboo mats, and sheets. I have also used this camping. If it does not rain this will work great because it is terrible to try to clean if mud gets on it.
