The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Bought these for my 6 year old. He's been wearing them daily for about a month and loves them. They're easy for him to get on and off, comfy to run and play in, and they're lightweight. We'll definitely be getting more of these when he grows out of them.

My now four-year-old son has worn these shoes for nearly two school years and I am about to order a second pair as he's finally outgrown them. I'm surprised to read the reviews that the shoes didn't hold up because his are still in good enough condition that my younger son will still receive them as hand-me-downs.
My son would always prefer to go barefoot or to throw on his Crocs, but these are our go-to for school and other activities that he needs some structure.
I will say that they are more difficult to put on seeing they have a tighter fit. My son usually needs my help to slip them on if he has socks on.

Great shoes. My son has been wearing KEENS every summer. When he tried these on at REI, he cried when we didn't buy them (at first). Now that we have them, he wont wear his KEENs anymore. He says these are so comfortable. I love that they can get wet, can be washed, are super flexible, and yet have arch support and protect his feet. The bottoms have awesome grip so on the playground equipment, he can climb w/o slipping.
CON: they STINK! I mean STINK! I've washed them several times. However, the lately they have a nasty odor to them that you can smell while he's wearing them. It's a horrible smell and I'm tempted to return them for a new pair. I've washed them several times, tried a few tricks like drying in the sun, stuffing them with dryer sheets, etc. To no avail.
I found a product that deorderizes smelly shoes. I'll try that next. If not, reluctantly they will go back. I sure hope the next pair doesnt smell like this.
It seems I'm the only reviewer with this problem. So, please try them. You'll love the comfort and the fit.

My kid was used to stomping around in big clunky shoes, which are mostly what's available for boys. While I personally am a big advocate of going (truly) barefoot, I've been trying not to foist my ideology on him. :)
So I was surprised and pleased when he picked out these more minimal shoes -- he clearly enjoyed running around in them, and has barely taken them off. While any minimal shoe is NOT the same as going truly barefoot, he's a lot more comfortable on his feet now, and his walking and running strides are much more natural and easy.
The main problem I see is durability. The tread wore off quickly, and the mesh and artwork on the uppers and straps has been coming off. I've never seen this in my kids' shoes before... normally he grows out of them before they wear out. It's not really a performance issue, more of a cosmetic thing.
All in all, I'm sure my son would recommend them.

My 4 year old son loves these shoes! He has recently become very picky about what he wears, but these fit his standards. They are now the only shoes he will wear, everyday. He says they are "so comfy". I notice how well he can run while wearing them, they have great traction too! He currently wears a size 11 1/2, we picked up the 11 in the store and they fit like an 11 1/2, so if your kid is a half size, I suggest sizing down, not up. They also wash really well, since he wears them everyday, they got quite dirty. A run through the wash on a cold, gentle cycle, and air dry, they look as good as new.

We purchased these because I tried on the women's and it was amazingly comfortable. My 5yr son LOVED them and said they made him faster. He literally wanted to wear them all the time. The problem came in when after less than 30 days the mesh was breaking down and the soles were already wearing SMOOTH. LESS THAN 30 days! Last year we went with Teva's and before that Keens and loved them both due to their durability and comfort. This would be an awesome kid's shoe if it were actually made for kids.

We tried the shoe in the store -- my 6 year old usually wears 1, but this was too big in 1, they don't come in 1/2 sizes, 13 fit well, except that the strap that goes over the top of the shoe is too short - for it to stick and stay put, the shoe becomes too tight on top of the foot, is uncomfortable and also comes undone easily with the movement of the foot. I don't think my son has a wide foot, maybe a slightly higher construction of the foot, so it didn't work for us. Too bad, otherwise an awesome shoe for an active kid!

I bought these for my 3 year old anti shoe wearing son in hopes they would be the silver bullet...and guess what?! He loves them, won't take them off. I kid you not! They are the most flexible, lightweight shoes ever and so practical too as they are totally washable. I will say they seem to run about a half size bigger than most, but could be attributed to the nice wide toe box they offer to allow kids toes to spread and feel free. I have since bought my daughter who is 7 a pair as she was so envious and turns out these are the only shoes she'll wear now too. The [$] price tag seemed alot at first, but well worth the price. I just ordered a pair for both myself and husband so we could share in the fun and enjoyment of wearing these shoes.

I have the woman's pace glove and fell in love with them, so naturally I wanted my boys to have the barefoot shoes as well. My 5 year old fits in the 12s (a little big, they say they run 1/2 size big) but my 3 year old isn't quite fitting in the 10s yet (the smallest size they make so far). My 5 year old loves them, they are the go-to shoe for him and his brother can't wait to fit into his. I highly recommend these!
