I got this vest with the intent of using it backpacking as a lighten option instead of a full length fleece jacket. It is so comfortable that I have not only used it for backpacking but also everyday at home for casual wear. For being an avid backpacker and athletically built I'm quite curvy and often feel like hiking clothes just kind of "hang". But this vest is very well fitted and still loose and comfy! Loved it so much that I got one for my mom and friend as well!

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Vest - Women's:

This vest was, hands down, my favorite purchase of the year. It is warm, utterly windproof as advertised, far from bulky, and, thanks to its cut, non-constricting. I've worn it comfortably in temperatures ranging from 30F to 60F without a coat, and rain and seaspray roll or shake off easily.

I like to have my arms unconstricted when I'm hiking, and I compared several vests. This is not the lightest vest available, nor does it pack the smallest, but its durability on the trail more than balances out those features. It wore well under pack straps, with no signs of damage, and survived being scraped along jagged rock walls during cave exploration on several occasions, back to looking brand new after being dusted off.

On top of that, it's a slimming vest to wear in the winter for almost any activity that I can think of. The pockets, internal and handwarmer, were quite adequate without bulking the garment up.

I highly recommend the REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Vest. A well-thought-out, well-made product.
