I bought the teal green and went back and bought the black. Very comfortable. Does not make you sweaty. If it gets real cold I wear a thin wind breaker over it. Good for layering.I am very happy with these vests. I would buy a couple more if they had the colors I liked. I am 67 years old.

I picked this vest up last fall to replace a fleece vest that I had warn as a winter mid-layer for several years whose zipper was slowly coming apart. That old vest also left something to be desired when it came to wind resistance.
This vest really filled that void. I live in Denver and our winter temperatures can rapidly range from 55 degrees to 20 degrees in the span of a day and storms move in fast. The wind-resistance of this vest makes it a perfect layer on those cool/cold windy days when you need something to break a chill but don't want to throw on a heavy jacket. I also hate bulking up over my arms, so vests are a great mid or top layer for me.
I also love the length of this vest, a bit longer than other vests I've tried, which gives me some comfort bent over on my bike.
One of the downsides that I found with this vest are its bulkiness. I cannot comfortably pack this vest down into my day pack for hikes or snowshoeing. I make it work nonetheless but it takes up a bit more room than I'd like. Thankfully, most of the time in 40 degree temperatures or less, no matter how much I'm moving and heat I'm expending, I'm wearing it.
The other downside is I feel it could have a bit more ventilation, especially in the back panel. As a bike commuter, I find myself overheating in this vest through the winter quite quickly when I'm working hills, and I've even found myself skipping it for the ride, dealing with the chill on my core, and just doubling up on another thin layer instead and saving the vest for when I'm on foot. I could see a ventilation panel being added to the upper back to really help that out without cutting down on wind resistance.
One other minor downside is that the inside material sticks to any kind of flannel shirt I wear and makes this really obnoxious sound as they move together.
Overall, I do love this vest and wore it almost daily through the late fall and winter and will continue to do so through the early spring.

These vests are great for when you're active and it's cold outside. When I XC country ski or hike in the mountains, it will block the wind, yet my arms can be out for ventilation. I bought two colors, the red and the teal. They fit true to size. I like that they are a little form fitting, so if I need to throw a coat on I don't feel like I am stuffed into my coat. I am a bit on the busty side, and these vests are not binding or too tight. Excellent item. A bit on the pricey side, but I never owned a wind block vest and have always wanted one. The wind blockage is very nice. I would buy again.

I bought this as a mid layer for cold days in town, as my go-to everyday jackets have fleece (not windproof) side panels. It has performed better than I expected and I wear it almost every day. It's also great for colder days on the mountain (resort skiing) as it doesn't add layers to your arms and turn you into michelin man. I have a small waist and hips but normally have to wear a small/medium in tops as my chest is about 34DD and I have wide shoulders. I got this in an XS and it fits great! There's space for my chest without it gaping out at the sides yet it's still slim fitting and flattering on my waist. There's also heaps of room for shoulders and doesn't cut in under your arms. Seriously a great buy, and don't be afraid to size down as it'll fit better under jackets then and is thick enough material that it won't roll unflatteringly around your mid section...

I am a curvy size 14 and the large fits perfectly i live in a warmer climate where we need to layer a bit in our winter to account for the weather over the course of the day. This vest replaces another technical one i have had for 12 years, it feels solidly built and wears well. great pockets and the fabric is excellent quality. Looking forward to many years of service, i got the bermuda turquoise color which is gorgeous but i am considering buying another in a different color as i wear it every day

This vest was, hands down, my favorite purchase of the year. It is warm, utterly windproof as advertised, far from bulky, and, thanks to its cut, non-constricting. I've worn it comfortably in temperatures ranging from 30F to 60F without a coat, and rain and seaspray roll or shake off easily.
I like to have my arms unconstricted when I'm hiking, and I compared several vests. This is not the lightest vest available, nor does it pack the smallest, but its durability on the trail more than balances out those features. It wore well under pack straps, with no signs of damage, and survived being scraped along jagged rock walls during cave exploration on several occasions, back to looking brand new after being dusted off.
On top of that, it's a slimming vest to wear in the winter for almost any activity that I can think of. The pockets, internal and handwarmer, were quite adequate without bulking the garment up.
I highly recommend the REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Vest. A well-thought-out, well-made product.
