Comments about Outbound Hooped Bivy Sack - Special Buy:
The weight is about 2.6 lbs (per the tag). The REI says the average weight was about 1.75 lbs. Debating on whether to return since I want to go as light as possible.
It sets up ok...no instructions. The first-time it took about 30 minutes to figure out.
The outer zipper snags on the mesh alot. Be very careful you do not rip it.
This is a step in the right direction for me but might makes it way back because of the weight and the construction suspect.

Comments about Outbound Hooped Bivy Sack - Special Buy:
Used this on Mt. Rainer in late January; even 2 plus feet of snow could throw a problem at this cover. Due to the heavy snowfall, and use of arctic rated sleeping bag inside, there was a fair amount of condensation build up. Not anything that would be an issue though as I had no problem sleeping through the night. Next to nothing for weight compared to everything needed during a winter excursion. Just like anything with a zipper, if you are in a hurry, the zipper will snag. Pay attention and this will not be an issue (even at 20 degrees, middle of the night, on a mountain). Had no issues with the zippers sticking, or freezing. No instructions, but then it is slightly bigger than a sleeping bag; not sure why you would need instructions. Plenty of room for XL therm-a-rest, boots, change of clothes, coat etc. Plenty of tie down points.Bottom line is this is an awesome investment and less than100 bucks. If you are going to spend anytime in the snow, this is a must.
