Comments about Asolo Velocity 2 Tent - Special Buy:
Tent worked very well, solid design, good in a rain storm. Stayed dry. Also worked great a warm weather bug tent, no rain fly. Would use a ground tarp to protect the floor.

Comments about Asolo Velocity 2 Tent - Special Buy:
Light and Cheap says it all. I found this tent to be significantly less pricey than comparable other 2-man backpacking tents I looked at, and 1/2 pound lighter. There is surprisingly a large amount of vertical internal room because of that third pole on the top. I've taken it on some relaxed alpine trips, and it worked well for a lightweight shelter more roomy than bivys, but this is no mountaineering tent. It did shelter 4 of us in a storm relatively comfortably. Some find the bright green ugly, but I like the unique color, and the asolo logo is reflective, making you easier to find in an emergency, or just at night after going to the bathroom (although that just as likely might annoy some people)
That said, the weight savings are accomplished by cutting a few corners. For instance, there is only one door, and half of the vestibule is on the other side of the tent, thus requiring you to go outside in order to access it-not something I would want to do in a storm. The floor material is pretty thin, and I do not have much confidence in it, so I always take a footprint I find the tent to be pretty small overall- kind of cramped for 2 people and 2 70L packs.
Overall, there are much better tents on the market for twice the price. But if you are looking for minimal weight, minimal $$$, small 2 man tent, then this is your number.
