Merino wool is supposed to be the best fiber for winter sports. I have been eyeing a few Icebreaker items but the prices are too high.

When I saw this one I thought why not, it's reasonably priced and REI has the best return policy so I took the chance to buy one.

I am 5'4" and 115lb. Both the XS and S fit me but I decided to keep the S. It has a bit looser fit around the torso thus probably more comfortable.

The sleeve is a cap sleeve and the logo is not too obvious. The black color hides dirt and flattering as a basic piece under a jacket. The length is very good that falls in the middle of my behind.

I've yet to wash it therefore hopefully it'd retain its shape after washing (I hang-dry my laundry).

True to the merino wool claim, it does not irritate or make you itch. I am hoping to get a lot of mileage out of this item. It's more polished and better looking than a black cotton T or a black polyester sports top, be it on its own or under other pieces.
