These are the best tasting gels on the market. I have tried gu, stinger, hammer, and a few others- these perform just as well or better and actually taste good! I highly recommend the chocolate cherry turbo, citrus, and razz flavors. These gels were the only thing keeping me going after many rim to rim trips in the grand canyon.

This gel is extremely thick, almost like 3 month old Elmer's glue, if one were to drink it, not that I've had first hand experience. I washed it down pretty easy with 3 or 4 draws from a water bottle.

The flavor is more lemon lime than the "citrus" I was expecting (orange), but not a bad flavor. Also surprisingly there was no after taste, should you burp.

The energy boost came on surprisingly fast and strong, I had no problems finishing the last 7 miles of my 13 mile ride.

Overall I'd give this an 4 out of 5 due to the quick and long lasting boost, it looses a star only due to the thickness.

Oh and BE SURE TO HYDRATE AFTER USING THIS!

This review is for the Clif Double Expresso shot energy gel.
They have 100mg of caffeine. some flavors have NO caffeine.

I find the taste fairly agreeable, and the consistency makes getting it out of the packet pretty easy. I might have preferred the chocolate cherry flavor, but its much thicker and actually hard to squeeze out of the packet!
As I say in the title caffeine works for me, I get quite a boost after eating a couple of these (not at one time!), so they are now standard for those very competitive group rides. I don't use them normally, so as not to become to used to the caffeine. I am not a coffee drinker.
Oh yes, the messy aspect. Suffice to say that if you get some on your fingers, its amazingly sticky, and a bit stubborn to lick off.

I use this gel when I am rollerblading since I am going to do the Minnesota Half Marathon. It gives me a much needed boost after going a few miles and keeps my energy up. The only one I have had is the Chocolate/Cherry turbo but I think the flavor is good. The consistency is like pudding so it doesn't bother me going down. Also, there is caffeine in this one so it does need to be chased with a lot of water. Overall, great product.

Tastes great. I am not a coffee drinker at all but this wasn't over powering.. It was pretty good in fact. I had this about 25 minutes before a road bike ride along with a small bottle of water. I felt great during the ride and I'm looking forward to trying a few more soon.

I've never been a big gel user. I try to minimize carbs and found gels provided a big energy surge followed by a crash.

I've been using these every hour when I ride and they give a really consistent, sustained boost.

I really like the updated formula. I like to swish water in my mouth with my gel to dilute it to ease digestion, and this new formula dissolves much better with the water. They are a little sweeter than the old gels, but not enough to bother me. They are also a little thinner. I just wish REI would carry the Citrus flavor!

I use the gel before running and every hour there after. Compared to pre-gel use, the gel seems to make a big difference for me! I enjoy the taste, so its kind of a nice treat when the going gets tough. I recommend it to all, as I will continue to partake!
