I got this for bike commuting and around town use. Good deal for the money. Have been biking in 20-30 degree temps and it keeps me warm (with a light fleece top underneath). Plenty warm for walking around town use with no underlayer. Seems very waterproof and well made--although we have not had rain here form months. It is heavy and not very compact so I would probably not use for backpacking or xc skiing. The sleeves are long, but I like this in a shell. Hood is not detachable. Zipper is on "wrong" side, which took a few days of getting used to.

This is a solid soft-shell jacket. I wear it with a light Marmot down underneath and the combo handles 10 degrees and colder easily. The jacket itself isn't insulated or cold-weather worthy, but it makes a good shell as it has more substance than just a rain jacket or windbreaker. I bought this jacket as a substitute for my old rain jacket (the waterproofing wore off), and so far it is doing a good job of keeping me dry in medium rains and also keeping me warm in lower temps. - I am 5' 11" 155 lbs. and the large is a good fit with a layer underneath- One thing to note is the sleeve length: I can almost never find a jacket that has long enough sleeves for my ape-like arms. This can be very frustrating when picking out gear, but this jacket has nice, long sleeves that cover my wrists.

I needed a new soft-shell so I purchased this jacket. I am usually a size small and in backpacks a size medium. Overall the jacket is nice but the sleeves are about 2.5" too long. It wouldn't be so bad, but without any wrist closures the sleeves keep covering my hands.
Also noted is a manufacture sew mistake, they sewed the zipper on backwards.
I would wear this jacket as a casual jacket but nothing more serious.
