Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes - Kids':
I bought these shoes for my 5 year old son. He wanted shoes like mommy (I have 4 pairs of five-fingers). He absolutely loves them. As expected, the kids version has the same quality as the adult version. It took a little time to teach him how to get them on his feet, now he can do it all on his own. (It's like teaching a kid how to put on gloves) These shoes will be perfect for all of our apring and summer activities, because they can get wet and dry fast. We'll be fishing, hiking, ziplining and hitting amusement parks in these shoes.

These "fingertoe" shoes as my little girl calls them are a fantastic summer camp, beach, day at the lake or whatever else you can think of shoes! They are very well made and fit like a glove. Unfortunately, the individual toe thing totally freaked her out so we had to take them back. I highly recommend these shoes to the parents of adventurous little-ones as a perfect shoe to get out and stomp in the summer mud. All we have to do is run the hose over them and air dry. Great shoe for those fingertoes- maybe next year!

This is the second year in a row that we bought these for our two youngest boys (now ages 5 and 7). Our oldest son had to have black women's KSOs because his feet are too large for the children's KSO. The children's KSOs have seam popping issues on both pairs this year. It's the seam on the instep where the grey top panel is attached to the red side panel. Last year the children's KSOs developed popped seams too but it wasn't until the summer was nearly over. This year the shoes didn't even last two months. And they have just been wearing them to school. Thankfully REI is a great company and is taking care of the issue for us. We're replacing the KSOs with the new Children's Fivefinger Speed. Incidentally, the women's KSOs haven't had any issues.
Our kids LOVE their Fivefinger shoes. They wear them everywhere. I suspect that Vibram makes the children's KSOs too tight around the top of the foot. Everything about the shoe fits fine for both of our kids except for the top. It's way too tight and our kids really have to work to get their feet in them. Our kids don't have wide feet either.
Bottom line: Vibram Fivefingers are great! Our whole family of 5 wears them. I'd stay away from the Children's KSO and get the Children's Speed because they have laces and will be easier to put on. They won't have the tightness issue around the top of the foot that the KSOs have. I have a pair of the men's Speed and they are great. I expect the children's Speed will be the same.

After I bought my VFF's the kids wanted a pair as well. They wear theirs all the time (unless it's cold). It's more of a casual shoe for them (9, 5 & 2 yrs old). They play and run around in them.

My local store was having a BOGO sale, so I thought why not pick these up for my 4yo son? I love the fact that his little feet are allowed to bend & flex & be free without getting hurt or poked. He loves these & calls them his "monster feet"! Lol! I find that worth it right there:) I did get them a size too big as that was all they had left. Which was actually fine as I needed the extra room to be able to work his toes into the pockets & he has high in steps so the tops of his feet are very high. I don't think I could get his feet in the right size(once he can help me & understand what he is trying to accomplish by repetition, then I think this won't be an issue as he gets into this size fitting tighter).
I love my VFFs and my hubby & 2 boys do as well. They could be more durable as holes happen & seams get caught, but sometimes I think we are more adventurous & active with these on, so we tend to get ourselves in "trouble". But honestly, anything that gets you off the couch & climbing a tree or jumping into a pond from a rock you just climbed because you CAN can bust a seam or two and we won't complain!

Great shoe, agree with all positive comments here. My daughter at 3.5 years old does love them! However:
Like the other reviewer, "RaysOfSunshine" from Charlotte NC indicated, there appears to be a design flaw (?) with his and now my daughters shoes, in that there is slight rubbing on the left instep. It manifested in a 'water blister' on her foot.
This occurred after day #3 of wearing the shoes. I will look into what may be causing the rubbing and hopefully it can be remedied.
Otherwise the shoe is great and inspiring for her to wear! We hope the rubbing issues of the left instep can be fixed by the manufacturer, and am not inclined to recommend shoe until addressed.
Thanks!

We got these shoes for my 5 year old daughter who was born loving anything that glitters, wearing skirts, and high heels. I wasn't sure that she would like them but we wanted them for somewhat of an "intervention" reason. She has a terrible habit of picking her toenails and she has destroyed them. I needed to cover up her toes, but socks/shoes are too easy to slip off to start picking her nails. I wanted something that wasn't easy to take off and would still be healthy for her feet to be in all day.
The first time you try to help your child into these shoes, expect it to take a while. For our daughter who was pitching a fit, it took a very long while. We gently and firmly held our ground. Once having them on, she said they made her feet want to do things. We first walked around a grocery store, and she wanted to walk every aisle. She tried picking up a grocery basket with her feet! She said they were fun.
Putting them on every time after that certainly did get easier. She can do it herself now and it takes one to two minutes instead of fifteen.
Get measured in the store! She is a medium width and measured a US kid size 11 (I think) and so would have needed a vibram vfive finger size 29. But it was too small of a width to fully get her feet in. We knew it would be hard to try them on, but still, it just didn't seem to be working. I asked for the next size up (30) just so she could have the extra room to learn how to put them on. It is hard at first to learn how to get each toe in each pocket. The child has to be fully participating in order to accomplish this. Don't think that you'll be able to slip it on for him/her. Once it was on, It was hard to know if it was on right. Her short stubby toes barely, if at all, reach the pockets. Only the big toe is fully in the pocket. I don't think her last toe is even in it, but it fits her great everywhere else on her foot. most of her middle toes are partly in. Dont think that you'll get a larger size for them to grow into and thus wear longer before outgrowing. It needs to fit snug.
These have accomplished what I wanted them for. Although she loves matching outfits, skirts, glitter, and being pretty, she still likes these shoes. She likes how they feel. She has gotten used to how to put them on. We use them for around the house, running errands, taking walks. She is starting to get a slight rub on her left instep though. I'm gonna try a bandaid to see if it keeps from rubbing. Seems to be from an inner seam in the shoe. Vibram should consider the inner shoe to be smooth if it's going to fit snug.

I purchased a pair of Five Fingers in the store for myself and they were so comfortable! My 7 year old wanted some [...] We got his pair 4 days ago and he lives in them from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to bed. They are a bit of a challenge to get on and needs some help still, but I think he will get it soon. He loves them! He does everything in them and seems to have no attention on his feet at all.
