Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
I used this sack for my sleeping bag storage and protection for seven months hiking the Appalachian Trail last year (2010). Through cold, 100 plus degrees heat, rain and snow it took the day to day pounding and use extremely well, was in good shape at the end of the hike with much more usage to go. My sleeping bag remained completely dry (when it was put in dry) in spite of virtually a month of nonstop rain when I started the trail and for the three weeks the pack was sitting in the bottom of the canoe while canoeing the Shenandoah River. Packed in the bottom with other gear on top and being pounded during 12 hour plus days of mountain hiking it didn't tear, puncture of split seams. Excellent, reliable product.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
I used the eVent Sil Compression DrySack while walking the length of the Andes Mountain Range. I would highly recommend this and other GG stuff sacks. It kept water out for the 7800 miles of our journey and stood up even when most of our other gear didn't. Whenever I go backpacking, my most essential gear finds itself inside this sack.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
This sack requires it be rolled at least 3 times in order to perform as described. I had it rolled 5 or 6 times and it let water in. By the time I had opened the sack it had 1 to 2 inches of standing water at the bottom. Luckily there were no electronics inside. I don't know if this is Granite Gear's fault or eVent's fault, but this sack is not waterproof. Someone else may have an okay experience with this sack, but it didn't work for me and I'll be returning it tomorrow.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
3 of the 4 plastic tabs/pulls easily slid off their compression straps. I opened the plastic tabs and reinstalled them inserting a little more of the strap to get full engagement by the tab's teeth. This appears to have solved the problem. I also added an overhand knot tight against the top of each tab. The knot gives a bit more to grab and takes some of the load.
Granite Gear's concept is good, the design/assembly of the pulls is poor.
Rolling the top for the seal decreases useable volume. If in doubt, go for the next larger size.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
This is a great stuffsack for backpacking in the Northwest. The e-vent panel allows air to escape after the sack has been sealed for ultimate compression. The cord compressors are quite a bit lighter than a webbing equivalent so you get all the benefit of a compression sack without the extra weight.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
While it's designed to be light and waterproof the pull tabs on the ends of the tightening lanyards came off the first time I used it. So, I made it even lighter by just putting an overhand knot in the end of each lanyard. Not sure what purpose the tabs serve that isn't improved by simply knotting the ends of the lanyards.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
I purchased the 13 liter for my REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag. My sleeping bag came with an 11 liter stuff sack, so I thought this would give me plenty of room. Once my sleeping bag was stuffed in, with no room to spare, I began tightening the compression straps and after a few pulls a piece broke off. The plastic "clip" at the end of one of the compression straps that allows you to get a grip and tug slid right off the cord.
I'm just glad it happened in my living room and not on a trip. I returned it and went with the 15 liter Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack instead. It weighs more, but definitely feels more durable. If you do go with this Granite Gear sack, consider going bigger than you think you'll need.

I use this bag in the 10L size for my Marmot Plasma sleeping bag. It is very lightweight and well made. I like the compression cords--functional but not bulky.
Another winner from Granite Gear!

I used this product for 7 months while hiking the Appalachian trail and canoing the Shenandoah River in 2010. I packed a down sleeping bag in that stuff sack. It compressed well and stayed bone dry through rain, snow and rapids. I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack:
I use this drysack to compress my down sleeping bag and keep it dry. It works very well and I'm super happy with it. Granite Gear has always impressed me with their high quality gear and I am a big fan. I'm not sure why some people haven't been happy with this product, as it is very easy to use.
