Comments about Coleman BlackCat Catalytic Heater:
Yes, like the other reviewer commented: the heater stinks, but that's a given. Hence the word "catalytic". On our way to Yellowstone N.P. Dear Husband made an out of the way detour to buy this heater...I said he was wussing out on me! Well on our 5th day of camping everyone but 3 tent campers and a few straggler RV's fled the park "en mass" to avoid a massive snow storm coming in from the West. It was a high of 29 degrees/low of 23. We hunkered down in that tent, fired up that heater, popped open the wine and played cards all night while being blanketed with inches of snow. It was so so nice to have ANY heat...I had a second helping of humble pie. That freezing night in a warm tent was like Christmas morning and one of our fondest memories of camping...even if Dear Husband wussed out on me! Just buy the heater...it's so worth it!

Comments about Coleman BlackCat Catalytic Heater:
just got mine, i was a little ify about how well it would work in a tent. kept hearing the saying you cant heat up the neighborhood. that may still be a streach for it, but my 4 person tent it did warm just fine. I used it for 2 nights and did not empty the 16oz fuel can. I only ran it for a little while to warn the tent before going to bed and for changing clothes. It was only in the 30s if colder i may have used it more, im sure i will get anouther chance.
I only had one isse with it. the legs are plastic, and one of mine broke on the leg stop off on the first trip. so now that leg keeps folding up. it was my fault the pack fell over on it, but still sucks. im going to try and fix it.

Comments about Coleman BlackCat Catalytic Heater:
Got this for our trip to Yosemite this year where in the 2 years past the temps had dropped into the high 20s and low 30s. It wasn't as cold as last year, but it still did get into the 20s one night, but 30s and 40s the rest of the week. On high the heater warms our Kingdom 6 well, but it only lasts 7 hours which doesn't get us through the night and we woke up to some cold mornings. the low setting, you have to stand pretty close to the heater to feel the effects, but it is nice to take the chill off while changing clothes.
Note: the warnings say don't run it while asleep because of carbon monoxide dangers. Our Kingdom 6 is very ventilated and while we still were cautious, we did run it overnight and survived, but do take precautions for your unique situation.

Comments about Coleman BlackCat Catalytic Heater:
The Catalytic Converter is just like the one on your car... it has a platinum coating on the surface. When heated, this thing gets hot... but very STINKY!
It works great for warming your tent and a single Coleman propane tank will burn all night for two nights... but this thing Stinks! Did I mention the smell?
For me personally, I'd rather be cold than smell this thing all night long...
Buy an "Infra Red" heater instead!
But remember to be mindful of ventilation and Carbon Monoxide build up.

Comments about Coleman BlackCat Catalytic Heater:
My issue with this heater is that it will turn on very easy, causing unlit propane to be released. For clarification, this doesn't mean it will be on fire, just that it may drain all your propane very quickly. I drove for a while with my recently purchased heater in the back seat of the car under a bag, one hour later the whole car was reeking like propane, it turns out that it is very easy to turn on the gas....way too easy. There should be a more sturdy guard on the switch.
