This is my second one. Love the price. Love the choice of colors. Its a nice streamline design while you are not hauling your bike around. The only downfall is the removal of the front tire.

I purchased this rack because of the overwhelming amount of positive reviews and the price. I can't help but agree. I love the operation of the quick release - so smooth. I also appreciate the low profile of the mount as I have it on a sports car - not a truck.

I was compelled to write a review when, after a year an a half or so, the quick release broke. I contacted the manufacturer an they very quickly replaced the part at no charge.

All-in-all I am very satisfied with this item and would not hesitate to purchase again.

I bought this because the thule equivalent for the price got bad reviews and I thought it looked cheap too.I have to say the build quality is nice and the locking hardware appears nice and beefy.
Sales person was not knowledgeable at all if THULE lock cores would fit, but I had some extras and THEY DO!!!!! that saved me $20 right there.
THULE you need to reevaluate your prive vs. build quality.

Wow! What a great product! I've had the Thule Velo Vise trays for 7 years and when I recently purchased my Specialized Rockhopper 29er, I needed to find something that fit the fork of my new 29er. I was looking to upgrade to Thule again, when I came across the less expensive Rockymounts Pitchfork. I read the great reviews and figured I would give it a shot.I couldn't agree more with the previously mentioned reviews! This thing is bombproof, rugged, stable, you name it! Once I got it secured, which took a minute or two tops, I gave the bike a little tug. The only way that bike is coming off and its properly secured is with hurricane force winds and it would have to take my load bars and half my roof with it. Absolutely no sway at all!! It works great with the Thule load bars, but I'll never use Thule trays again. By the way, it may be a little extra work, but I always store my skewer in my glove box when I am not using it. I figured it's less exposure to the elements and it eliminates the chance of getting it stolen or falling off! Great product for a great price! [...]

I got two of these for my car and have been using them for a year now. They are perfect, sleek, strong, easy to install, secure and cheaper than most other racks. They fit my Yeti 575 with disc brakes and my old road bike.

However, I got a new road bike that is a custom carbon build and the front fork dropouts are about .5mm thicker on each side than a standard fork. As a result the skewer was not long enough and ended up stripping the skewer threads. luckily this happened as I tried putting the bike on the rack and didn't pop the threads as I was driving down the road. This is a VERY unique situation and cannot imagine any retail bicycle would cause this problem.

I'm keeping one and getting a new one that will work with my new bike. The new replacement will likely be the Yakima ForkLift as it seems like the skewer is longer, hopefully solving my problem.

The need for two lock cores isn't completely true. If you have the skewer tightened and locked the rack cannot be removed. The second lock just locks a plastic piece over the bolts that could probably be snapped off with some pliers. I suggest keeping skewers locked as this is the true security. Also if you don't lock your skewers at the trail head and somebody decides to steal them, how you going to get your bike home? Best to just lock the skewers to prevent anything from being stolen.

Cost efficient, robust design, with reliable camming linkage on the fork mount. Previous to this product I had been using Thule Velo vise varients for over 10 years and I have pulled the plastic internal threads out of their fork mount adjustment system on two of four vises I have owned (the internals of the expensive models are the exact same plastic thread as the cheap models and I have broken both). I will only buy Rocky Mounts from now on. Great product.

This is the second Rockymounts product that I have owned. I bought the first one about 10 years ago, and it is still in use today. I purchased it as an alternative to spending what I thought was an outrageous amount of money for a Yakima or Thule bike mount. Back then I believe Rockymounts were about $50.00. I recently purchased a new mountain bike and I decided I needed another mount on my Yakima rack, so I purchased the Rockymounts Pitchfork. I was initially disappointed, because the new mounts had gone up in price. However, when I received the pitchfork in the mail I was immediately impressed with the durability, and features of the new mount. This mount rocks, and it's worth MORE than what I paid for it! It's a great deal, and it's BOMB PROOF... Purchase 2 lock cores with this product, not one. One will go on the rack itself, and one will go on the skewer. Great Job Rockymounts. An amazing product, at an incredible price!

Have had two Pitchforks on my A4 (Thule crossbars) for about 9 months now. I always had qualms about putting my bikes on my roof, but the Pitchfork is SOLID. There's never been a doubt in my mind that my investment is safe up there. It's quiet too, and looks great (much lower profile than any other tray I've ever seen, but stronger than anything else I've used). Handles my S-Works Tarmac and my Epic Marathon 29er equally well.
