This is a great kids helmet. My daughter has a smaller head than most in her two-year old age group (or is it a slightly less fat head?), and the helmet still fits her well, with room for growth. There are some real advantages to this helmet:

1. mesh on the front vents keeps bugs out. That means it also keeps bees and flies out. Keeping them out of the kid's mouth is one thing, but this relieves a persistent problem, and i wish my adult helmet had this feature.

2. the helmet has two LED flashers in the back. the flashers are actuated by a simple push of a rubber button. what can i say? this is brilliant! lights on the helmet (the highest and most visible-to-others part of your kid) add a real element of safety. the rubber push button is somewhat prone to kid-finger-picking (trying to peel off the rubber cover), so beware; maybe a sturdier button would eliminate this hassle?

3. the helmet is not unduly heavy. it's not feather light either, but at least it doesn't look like its going to snap my daughter's neck. her old Giro helmet did this.

In response to the reviewer who complains about the helmet shape when used with a trailer: the rear part protects the head, that's why it's there---it's a design advantage. if the helmet doesn't fit the trailer, that would be a design flaw of the trailer and not the helmet (note that among others, Burley and Chariot trailers both have helmet cut-outs precisely for this reason).

This is a good helmet and my daughter (3) loves the design. The adjustment mechanism makes it easy to tighten once on. However, the back of the helmet is so bulky that it pushes her head down when riding in our bike trailer. She's safe, but she has to look down at ther lap the whole time.
