The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
My Goldilocks light - just right balance between weight, size, brightness, and run time. I keep this light in my pack all the time just in case the dark sneaks up on me or as a backup when using my big rechargeable light. The EOS Bike Light has a nice wide beam with good throw and is completely smooth with no transition lines. Small package. Switch doesn't turn itself on in your pack (big problem with some other lights). And somehow 3 AAA Ni-MH batteries make bright light for over 3 hours (longest used so far). Plus you can pack additional AAA's (try that with your rechargeable).
I have a whole box full of lights I've used over the years. This is by far the best small light I've owned. It excels at lighting up a dark residential street or greenway for a moderate speed ride, which is often all I need. Maybe the deep dark winter will convince me it's time to haul around the big light again, then again, with this much convenience, maybe it won't.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
I've been using this light as a helmet light with the supplied helmet mount. This light is great. It actually lets you see the trail/road a good distance ahead of you with a nice wide beam. Not like lesser lights that let cars see you, but you can't see the road. For the price it's a great little light. I have used it as a primary light for night trail rides and it gets the job done, but at higher downhill speeds it is not quite enough where logs, rocks and ruts appear out of the darkness (this is where $100+ lights enter). This is not as much of an issue on the street. I like the mount options, Helmet / Bar / Head strap for camping and hiking. One negative is the flash mode is too slow for biking, maybe good for hiking / emergency stuff.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
I have this mounted to my helmet. I commute early in the morning and also use this light recreationally for evening rides. It isn't a long-range, powerhouse of a light, but it's very good for my dark commutes. When combined with my dual-beam Nightrider, I can see long distances and also check out things up close and to the sides using this light. A plus is, unlike rechargeable light systems, you can use this on multi-day tours when an electrical outlet isn't available.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
I use this light mounted on my helmet, in addition to a light mounted on my handlebar. A handlebar light is important (and required by law in many communities for night riding), but it only points in the direction that your bike is heading. When approaching an intersection, you can't be sure that cross traffic will necessarily see your handlebar-mounted light, and a car's headlights may wash it out. With a second light mounted on your helmet, you can direct that light toward wherever you're looking. The bike is going straight, but you can turn your head to aim the light right at anyone or anything on your sides.
The Princeton Tec EOS BIKE works great in this capacity. It comes with a few different mounts so you can choose whichever one works best for you; I use the velcro strap run through the air vents on my helmet along with the plastic bracket.
The light itself is very bright. At its highest setting, it lights up street signs from half a block away. I have not ridden in total darkness with this light or had to use it to see where I'm going, as my night riding is on well-lit Chicago streets. But I am confident that it gives me an extra level of visibility and safety.
The button to turn on the light is recessed a bit and has a rubberized cover. It's easy to turn on (unless I'm wearing my thick winter gloves), but seems like it would never turn on accidentally when stowed in a bag.
The light has four settings - high/medium/low/flash - and you access your preferred setting with repeated pushes of the power button: one press for high, two for medium, and so on. One thing I like is that after the light has been running for a short while, it only takes one push of the button to shut it off no matter which mode you're in. Let's say you're riding with the light set to medium (which is accessed by two button presses when you turn on). When you finish your ride and turn the light off, just one button press shuts it off - you don't have to cycle through low and then flash modes to get to off. It's not a huge thing, of course, but it's a pretty smart feature which I appreciate in a moderately priced light.

I attach the Princeton to my helmet on my commute to work in the mornings. Easy to adjust and mount. Light shoots out a nice beam that illuminates the road perfectly. For the money I would highly recommend this light.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
This is a nice light, and will make a great headlamp for camping etc, but it is a safety light - for being seen more than for seeing. For that purpose it is excellent, and made me feel very visible especially in flash mode.
I used it on a completely smooth bike path and thought that it was great, then changed to a bumpy dark path, and realized that it wasn't so good. I felt each pothole before I saw it. Contrary to the previous reviewer, I wouldn't suggest riding with this light in the dark on anything but a smooth surface.
It says 50 lumens on the box. For bumpy paths in real darkness you can buy 200 and 400 lumens lights, though they are 5-6 times pricier.

Great light for me! I commute just about everyday and part of my commute is on a gravel, tree-line road. The other part is paved! So, I go from some what dark to very dark! The EOS really lights up the very dark! (I have it mounted on my helment)With the assistance of my Planet 1 watt I have no problems seeing or being seen!

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
This light is a winner in more ways than one. I was looking for a light to make me visible to oncoming traffic when riding at night. I had been using an older NiteRider lighting system for actual street and trail illumination, but the size and weight of the battery is a real inconvenience. Then I found this light. It puts out an amazing amount of light from a very small package. No heavy battery packs and coiled cords to bother with. In addition, this light has 4 modes of operation: a bright light for street or trail riding, a medium intensity light to make you visible for oncoming traffic, a low light setting, and a bright flashing light for emergency use. In addition, the light comes with a handlebar mount, a helmet mounting plate, and a full expandable stretchy headband for wearing on your head without a helmet. And the light is priced right from REI. I would highly recommend this light to anyone looking for a light that can be used in a wide variety of applications at a reasonable cost.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
The compact design is ideal. Does not get hooked as easily and seperate like other multi section lights.
I have tried other lights that have the long front to back desing. Inevitably, when you lean your bike, store it, stand it... and it gets snagged on something, the front (light) portion snaps off or broken.
Everything else good about the light has been very well said by other users. Great for the price.

Comments about Princeton Tec EOS BIKE Front Bike Light:
I use this light on a 1 mile ride to the Montour trail with some street lighting along the way. I also use it on the trail and it lights the entire width of the path which is about 6 to 8 feet wide. I noticed street signs reflect very well too. I would guess at about 25 yards away. Very nice light, easy to change batteries, in my opinion it has a long battery life rated at 113 hours on high. I don't use flashing mode and tend to use only the high setting.
