I've been using this headlight for a little over a year and it's perfect for what I need. I don't do much night riding, but when I do this let's me see plenty far in front of me. I generally appreciate its flashing mode to keep me nice and visible at all times of day. My only gripe is that I have to charge it every single time I use it or it won't last longer than half an hour, regardless of how much I've used it since the last charge. It's almost like the battery drains even when not in use? But when it's fully charged it has never quit on me during rides as long as 3 hours, so overall I recommend it! Just always keep a cord on hand.
I have been commuting in the DC area for 2 years now. Finally decided to upgrade my bike, had to upgrade everything else, obviously. This light is fantastic! I use the brightest setting on empty paths and can see for 50 yards or more. When another biker passes in the opposite direction, I drop it down to the 200 lumen flash which is low enough it doesn't blind passer bys. Then, double tap the button and i'm back to full brightness. I love it so much, I bought one for my wife and was able to persuade my friend to purchase one too. They both love them.
I’ve used over two years now in daytime and nighttime, rain and shine, for urban commuting. I love that I can quickly attach to the handlebar in the morning and it’s a quick removal when I get to work (take that, thiefs). The bungee type attachment offers a secure fit over my handlebar tape. Also super easy to adjust the brightness or steady/strobe function while riding. It remembers the last setting when you turn it back on. VERY bright at night on its highest setting so you can see potholes in an urban setting and be seen by drivers. It flashes to let you know when the battery is low but doesn’t last super long after that. Setting it to lower brightness will preserve the battery. Overall, this light is worth every penny.
Some things I like about this, some I didn't. don't like the mount. its a stretch around your handle bar rubber mount. I feel like some day its going to dry rot and when I pull it to stretch and latch, its going to snap. good features - has flashing mode and is decent for lighting. I would say its good for a single light and priced accordingly. I also bought it at the same time as this the niterider 1800. I find that one more impressive and way brighter but its 3 times the price of this. I was hoping this dash pro 600 would be perfect for trail riding as its lighter but that mount leaves me worried. would I buy it again. probably not only because of the mount.
Initially, i used the light in the Day Lightning mod and had to recharge it after 5 or 6 hours of use. My only problem was that on bumpy roads, the light titled down and so it required constant repositioning. However, around 19 months, I had to recharge the light after two or three hours of use. Now after a little over two years, it will not work for even an hour without recharging..Would recommend this light only if you are riding on smooth roads and intend to use it for less that 18 months..
This is a terrific light and I like it. It is easy to use and charge. I have used it a couple times on very early morning rides and found it perfect. However, when using it at full power/brightness, it draws the battery down quickly. Not a deal breaker unless you plan to be on very dark roads for an extended period.
Used this for a year; commuting to and from work on lit and unlit roads. This little guy packs a punch. When I first got it (by mail) I thought I might have made a mistake. But since I bought it as a back-up light, I figured I'd give it a try. I was not let down! My main light ended up getting it's cable cut from the main battery source while on a ride; the Dash Pro lit the way. Cool options that can be used even during day rides to get others attention; I'm talking about that "blinking" disco light function. Button indicates green charged. Easy on and off my custom bars. None of my "dark" rides using the light have gone more than 2 hours with full out functions (1 hour each way) and battery never died. I've used the day strobe function on several 5 hour rides and the battery was fine. Haven't pushed it more than that. Pros: - Easy to charge - Light weight (No pun intended) - No cords on the ride! - Easy on and off mounting; rubber insert on inside = no marks on my bars. Light mounted/strapped to bar section with only paint (no bar wrap). - Plug and play (micro USB to charge). Seems to charge fast for me as I'm not rushed when I do so; never had to stop on a ride to charge. Cons: - Fairly narrow beam; great for road/city/urban...not so on open trails. - Some might consider this a pro - USB charge is on back with rubber cover which means you don't have to remove to charge (which is easy to do). I haven't taken it in the rain and the rubber seal works well. But I'm picturing myself on a long tour and forgetting to make sure the rubber seal is on good and hitting a storm.
First off I just want to state that this is a really bright light at 600 lumens. Other reviewers state that it is not intuitive but it really is. A single press of the button will turn on the light, each additional single press of the button will cycle you through the different light modes and lastly, a single press and hold will turn the light off. Another reviewer stated using a knob to select modes but adding a knob will only add an additional component that would be susceptible to breakage. The only negative about this light is that it is front-heavy from the pivot point, that means that the light will tilt forward and down when subjected to riding on rough roads or bumps and will require readjustment from time to time but that is only a minor inconvenience with all the pro's this light offers. The rubber attachment strap helps the light to absorb the shock of rough roads but comes at the cost of the light tilting. Regardless of all this I highly recommend this light.
There is a lot to like about this product. I really like the mounting and light adjustments themselves. Looking forward to using this on my Allegheny GAP trip
This is my 4th Cygolite. Bought it when on sale to replace light where battery worn out. This light is fine if: you take some tape-electric or handlebar tape and wrap the area where you will use it, takes 2.5 hours to recharge from low-when low the button on top flashes. However, the button on top where one changes how the light beams is hard to use. Set it before you begin to ride and then leave it. If you take your eyes off the road to play with button you are taking your eye off the road for too much time. The light does light the road well. I have one tail light from Cygolite and 2 front lights-one has a removable battery. The other I am sending back to Cygolite to get a new battery because they have to do it. I live in Oregon. I ride all year. Ride long distances and into the night. In cold weather the battery discharges much faster than in warmer months. I like Cygolites. The Dash Pro 600 has a rubber type attachment and I have no idea how long it will last before it breaks but Cygolite sells a replacement. I think it is a good light just set the beam before you begin to ride or stop and change it. I read this is a problem in other reviews and it is the only problem I see. Once I place it on my handlebar where I have placed electric tape it stays in place and I hit lots of pot holes.
