          Comments about Highgear Adventure Tool:

I like the multiple functions of this, but they are all too small to really be practical. The compas is not accurate enough to be of much use, likewise for the signaling mirror and magnifying glass. I found the temperature sensor to be slow and not very accurate.
The biggest problem was the main function (the whistle) was effectively non-functional - yes it blows at a high pitch but not very loud - I am able to whistle louder than the emergency whistle. Big problem when I was trying to find a friend during a whiteout.

          Comments about Highgear Adventure Tool:

This tool could have been greatness but it has a problem. The tool itself is a great all you would need in a survival situation but a knife. The issue is that it breaks too easy and for backpacking, survival that is not a good thing. The compass fell out of mine with light use.

          Comments about Highgear Adventure Tool:

The only features I've used on this are the compass one day when there was a long stretch of trail with no blazes and the light when I forgot to dig out my headlamp before it got dark. The magnifying glass is too low power to be of much use. The signal mirror is a joke. The whistle would be nice, but the reed piece fell out and got lost the first day I had it on the trail and a $2 steel whistle works better. The clock tends to get reset frequently and I don't generally need to know the temperature. It is reasonably priced, but there is a reason it is cheap.

          Comments about Highgear Adventure Tool:

It's okay for being "non-tech". If this thing had a back light and an altimeter it would be a steal instead of 'slightly underwhelming'. Realistic usable features are the compass, light and thermometer. Decide if this what you're needs are when considering purchasing this unit. I'll probably Velcro it to a shoulder strap or waist belt on my backpack. Battery life remains to be seen.

          Comments about Highgear Adventure Tool:

Here are the CONS: Time/ Clock has no lockout protection, the Hr & Min buttons if pressed will change the time setting easily.

Temperature readings are slow, I waited more then 15 minutes to get a temp, constant on might give you a current reading. But turning on the tool and expecting an immediate reading will not happen, you will have to wait.

Holding down MODE will turn ON & OFF the display protecting the time setting from accidentally being changed but you will have to wait a long while before you get a TEMP.

The compass is great because it's damping fluid allows it to point you north quickly and with good accuracy. But north could have been treated with some sort of glow markings for night time or evening readings.

No loop for clips to latch on to just two small holes for the lanyard to loop , there should have been at lease a loop for adding a split ring or snap clip.

the best thing about this thing is the light. I use it every-time when I am on the trail and it is convenient to have an extra compact light just in case. It is durable also I have dropped it a couple of times and it still works
