Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
I bought the older model tent and footprint and this review is based on the assumption the basic design hasn't changed with the newer model. I had to return a faulty footprint for a new one - top points for the REI guarantee and quick service!! The tent is constructed well and made from good materials. It is small and lightweight, really only a one man tent with scant room for gear in tent or in vestibule.
My main criticism is in the design of the tent. It is not a freestanding tent (and that's ok), but it requires 16+ pegs and a fair amount of time and attention to set up well enough to survive dirty weather (and that's not ok). Due to poor fly design, you can't avoid getting the inside of the tent wet in bad weather when entering/exiting and its very difficult to keep the wet fly from contacting the inner tent walls.
Bottom line, it's ok for occasional use and fair weather camping or backpacking - spend more if you require more from a tent.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
I saw an unflattering review of this tent and want to put my two cents in.
I've had the tent for nine years, make no mistake this is a one man tent but it's well made and sets up quick. Without the fly it's a great hot weather tent, with the fly it's sturdy in strong winds and dry in heavy rain. I've never used more than eight steaks, six for the tent two for the fly. It's been a home away from home for me and I would recommend it to a friend.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
I have used this tent on over a dozen trips and find it to be very reliable. It has kept me dry in thunderstorms and high wind. This is a great light weight tent and will certainly give you your bang for the buck. If your going camping with another person usually and going to be in rocky terrain I would lean towards a free-standing tent with two doors.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
I have owned this tent for several years. I don't have a single complaint. I am 6' 7" and weigh 270 pounds. When used as a solo tent, there is room to spare. When my wife comes along, we sleep close, but comfortable. For the room, weight, ease of set up, and quality this tent is a bargain.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
Used it last weekend in two powerful downpours. I expected to sleep in a puddle. Not at all. Floor was reasonably dry (wet spots from opening the fly in a downpour). My only complaint is that the zippers were constantly catching on material but I've had that with every tent.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
This is a great tent if you know its limitations.
First, its a free-standing tent. Its a bit difficult to find places to pitch if the soil is too rocky. With other tents this isn't a problem as they don't require the stakes to remain standing. I'd practice setting it up before your first outing as it does take some practice. I was able to set it up in under 7 minutes which is outstanding!
Second, its not a one-person tent if you're a big guy like me (6'3" 215lbs) unless you want to be very intimate with the person you're with.
Once you get past these limitations, its a great tent! I like to pack light and this tent weighs barely anything, especially without the rain fly. I mostly camp in southern California so I can't attest to its wet weather capability.

Comments about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 Tent:
I chose this tent because I wanted the room of a so-called 2-person tent but be as lightweight as possible for backpacking. The tent itself is great in most respects but the advertised average pack weight of 3 lbs-14 oz is incorrect. Actual pack weight is at least 4 lbs-8 oz., excluding footprint. That was a deciding factor in my purchase.
