Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
Just finished a perfect weekend in the Sierras. I wanted a smaller pack for shorter excursions without sacrificing too many cubic inches or comfort. This pack is incredibly comfortable. It has a nice assortment of features without all the bells and whistles of a more expensive pack. With the TFX suspension system found on all of the upper end Lowes, it was remarkably adjustable and I quickly found my sweet spots.
My only complaint were the side pockets. There are 4, two being zipped and two ostensibly for water bottles. All of them were basically useless. I couldn't fit more that a few tiny items in any of them. Other than that packing was a breeze.
Nice perks were the bladder pocket and the included pack rain cover. Also a separate sleeping bag compartment, not usually found on a pack in this price range.

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
i recently used this on a 5 day trip along the kalalau trail. it worked great. held all that i needed for the 5 days. the starting weight was over 40 lbs and this pack could easily handle it. we got a lot of rain and the included rain cover did a great job keeping everything dry. the adjustable torso system is great, it should fit everyone. only cons are that the lid does not convert to a hip pack and the water bottle pockets are too small (when fully packed i couldn't even fit a nalgene bottle)

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
Used as a 48 hour SAR pack. Holds everything necessary for a 48 hour self contained search and rescue operation. I don't think you can buy a better pack for the money. The suspension system rivals packs in the MSRP price range of $200. The back is fully adjustable for all torso links. I have carried up to 45 pounds in the pack with no discomfort. Hope this is helpful. Good luck and travel safe.

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
This is my first backpacking pack, & have not had the opportunity to use it to it's full extent yet, but the limited use the pack has seen is thus far incredible. Extremely comfortable and more room than I expected. It would be nice to have alternate access to the main compartment other than the top lid. Overall, definitely worth the price; I'm glad I got it at this price before they were all sold out!

I have never had a better pack. This will last me for many more years. JMT 2008, worked perfect. I've been treating it baddly and it is still in great condition.

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
Hiked JMT at 22+ miles per day. Extremely comfortable with load around 30 lbs. Went as high as 40 lbs. for two days without any discomfort. 32oz. Gatorade bottle does fit in otherwise nearly useless bottom side pocket. This was the only drawback. Out of nearly 2 dozen packs I've had over the years, this is the best. Will be purchasing another for spare.

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
Couldn't beat the price to say no. Replaces a horrible Kelty that I purchased a few years ago. No frills and has the bare minimum that I was looking for. Took it with for a 4-day trip to the Bristlecone Forest and it was great. I actually found the side zippered pockets quite useful and it actually helped me scale-back on the extra stuff that I like to take. I could only fit one sigg bottles worth of water in the bottom pocket, the other didn't have enough room since it also stores the raincover. I used that side to lash on my tent poles, which worked out great. My biggest complaint would have been that I wish the lid was detachable and could be used as a daypack, that's a real disappointment. But a great bag and I always trust the durability of their gear.

Comments about Lowe Alpine TFX Horizon 65 Pack - Men's - Special Buy:
Wanted this for 2 to 4 day backpacking trips. Side packets are useless and don't expand when the sack is filled, so you can't carry water bottles on the outside of the pack.
Good padding, comfortable and nice hard wearing fabric. Rain cover included.
Although 65L it does not expand well and its rather small for anything but minimalist backpacking. Good sack but I'm going to return this and buy a Gregory 80L sack instead.
