GoLite Utopia 2 is a freestanding ultralight tarp shelter that is sturdy enough to be used for four-season backpacking.

  • Utopia 2 offers a nice-sized floor plan and generous headroom, and it's ideal when all you need is a roof over your head or a wind-shedding tarp
  • SilLite™ silicone-impregnated ripstop nylon is durable, waterproof and lightweight;
  • DAC Featherlite® aluminum poles are lightweight and strong; two-pole design offers an easy setup
  • Internal rip-and-stick tabs hold poles in place while preserving the sleekest wind profile possible
  • The lowest internal tabs are sewn to the tent's external (reflective) guy loops to maximize the entire structure's strength
  • Features a tall zippered door; three full-length side vents provide excellent airflow
  • Floorless design saves weight; bathtub-style floor is sold separately
  • Hydrophilic thread at the seams expand when wet, sealing the seams and eliminating the need for liquid sealant
  • Includes reflective guylines, six Y-stakes and stuff sacks

I love the ultra-light weight, combined with roominess.However, the shelter didn't survive setting up. I received one last week, set it up in the back yard, and the pressure of the tent poles on the corner grommets tore the seam. So, the [...]sent me another. I set it up inside, and the corner fabric tore, again where the pole was putting pressure on the grommet.

    Love this light little shelter. Plenty of room for 2 people. Perfect amount of easy coverage for summers in the Sierra. Think of it as a large umbrella that can be moved around (as such, if it's windy it should be staked, at least the side pullouts.) It sounds like the other reviewer that complained about ripping side seams put the poles in wrong. They need to go into the corner grommet pointing down, not up into the seam.
