Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
What's wrong with the 600L? Not a thing, LAST YEAR. Then it was a 5-star product.Today, the poor 600L's problem is that it is being orphaned (unless the price is majorly reduced) because the DiNotte company has flanked it with alternatives, the 800L and 400L, that offer far higher performance/price ratios, which, IMO, has arguably erased the 600L's previous market niche. The mtbr LED Shootout last winter found the 600L to only be slightly brighter than dual 200Ls (now available as a 400L model, two 200L LEDs/reflectors in one integrated housing), when reflected lux was measured with a light-intensity meter. (Reflected light is key, because this is how we see objects, we don't gaze at our lights.) My personal use of the 600L and 400L corroborates: the 600 is brighter, but not very much. It would make better sense to buy one 400L with power packs and charger and one 400L without batt/charger for [$]. Using mtbr's method, you'd get 64 lumens vs. 33 lumens for only $40 more. You'd have two independently aimable lights, plus the safety of one's working if the other blew out during a ride (you would however have only 2.5 hrs of power versus 7, at this price difference, which for most people's rides is adequate duration.) These terrific benefits easily justify $40, if you're already spending[$] no?But wait! Forget the two 400L combo. Even it isn't the best deal right now. The new 800L appears to be significantly brighter than the 600L ([@] DiNotte is now offering an 800L bar + 400L helmet combo for [$]! 1200 lumens and two separately aimable lights beats 600 lumens and one light hands down, and you get the two-light set for only $50 more than the 600L alone! (Again 2.5 hours vs.7 for this price difference.)REI should get in on these DiNotte products for its members' benefit, particularly to encourage handlebar + helmet lighting use, which is the safest way to ride on unlit trails, and ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC (flash mode on helmet light aimed directly in the eyes of left turners, parking lot exiters and cross-trafficintersection enterers GETS THEIR ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.) And the assurance of having at least one working light if the other fails is terrific. The 600L WAS an excellent light for its price last year, and represented DiNotte's commitment to high quality and functionability. I can't recommend it for the sole reason that the 800L with 400L combo, or 400L alone ([$]), or two 400Ls offer far higher price/performance ratios.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
I've been putting off buying this light due to the price. It replaced a 10w halogen Niterider (old--had run-time issues). WOW. I've never ridden with HID's, so i cannot compare in that arena. Compared to the 10w Hal...ALOT BRIGHTER. Due yourself a favor...get over the price and buy it. The low beam is not much dimmer than the high. The whole system is very light, and charge time is even quicker than advertised. No frills, simple box, directions, and operation. And it is ridiculously bright. Period.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
This light is great! I ride Sedona, Prescott, and other areas rough challenging trails and even on a no moon dark night I can see great.
I usually use the medium power setting - and each of the two included batteries will last 7+ hours at this setting.
The unit will come with a no frills box and instructions - great - I don't need to spend xtra $ on a fancy box.
The DiNotte lights are Made In USA, are an example of simple, smart design that works very well, and I think are the best value for the money.
The handle bar mount is durable and easy to use. I haven't used the helmet mount yet.
My previous light was a NiteRider Digital Pro 15W Halogen I had been using for years.
The 600L is brighter on low that the NiteRider on high and the battery life is something like 4 times longer.
DiNotte's closest competition for the 600L is NiteRider's TriNewt - the 600L comes with TWO batteries where the TriNewt comes with one, and the 600L handle bar mount is much stronger and easier to set. Both are the same price, the 600L easily beats the NiteRider IMHO!

I got this for my nightly commute home from work and prior to this light I was using a regular AA powered cateye. There is absolutely not comparison, the Dinotte illuminates the entire trail and I can actually see where I'm going. Amazing light and I have no regrets in buying it.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
I have been using the Dinotte 600L for nightly training rides for the past year. The light is amazing in that it will throw out about as much light as a car head light. I can bomb down hills at 30 MPH without any fear of that I will out run the light and not be able to stop in time. It illuminates the entire bike lane in front of me.
It has a very simple but dependable mounting system. I can it on and off of the bike in just a couple of seconds.
The 600L also stays cool to the touch and it is possible to use it like a like a flash light. It gets warm but not hot. Because it is LED, it should last tens of thousands of hours before needing to have the LEDs replaced.
Strongly recommended.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
I ride at night in the dense woods with this as my only light source. Carrying a spare teeny/light battery is no problem at all so I can be gone for hours.
The battery and light head is small enough to mount everything on my bars (no wires to get caught up in stuff).
The instant full light power button is very useful and this light has worked flawlessly for me.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
I am a casual rider and occasional commuter by bike. My ride home from work is 17 to 20 miles (depending on my route) mostly on unlit trails and some roads. I use a 3-light combination with the 600L headlight, the 400L helmet light, and the 400L taillight. On dark trails this 3-light combination is excellent. I don't really need the helmet light, as the 600L provides plenty of light to see the path--even at high speeds. I like the helmet light to provide light wherever I am looking, so if I turn my head I can see things that are not directly in front of me in the light from the headlight. While the 400L helmet light provides a lot of light for its size and weight (more than other larger lights I have used), if I were going to use a 2-light system in really dark conditions, I would go with the 600L headlight and the 400L taillight. On the road, the 600L headlight and the 400L taillight, in their flashing modes, are great in daylight and at night. Any light will make you more visible to cars at night, but the 600L and 400L taillight are very visible to cars even in daylight, giving you the piece of mind that you will be seen by drivers on the road. I use my taillight quite a bit on the road in daylight. Also, this 3-light combination does more than make you visible to others. If you like to ACTUALLY SEE what is going on in front of you and around you in really dark conditions, this system has everything you need. My lights have been banged around and rained on, and still work great. These lights are clearly better than any other light system I have used in terms of ease of use (including installation), battery life (rechargeable batteries), and the amount of light they give off. The lights are very light weight. The design of these lights is well thought out and implemented. [...]The battery life is at least as good as described on the website. One word of advice: Do not leave the lights plugged in to their batteries when not in use. This appears to drain the batteries even if the light is not on. This is not a problem, as the batteries can be recharged, but keep them unplugged when not in use. I highly recommend any of these 3 lights. If you ride in dark conditions, I highly recommend this 3-light combination. Everyone who rides in traffic, day or night, should at least have the 400L taillight. These lights are not cheap, but with the rechargeable batteries and quality workmanship, I expect they will last a long time with additional cost to use them.

I haven't found a better system. Dinotte is committed to being at the top of market. This light is bright enough to do fast single track at night. A great bonus is the fact that Dinotte supplies two batteries--that keeps the cost down and usability up.

Comments about DiNotte 600L-LI-4C Headlight:
I ride to work 20 miles each way and this light works perfect for me. The light's high setting is plenty bright on some of the unlit roads I ride on. Also, having two batteries helps out when I forget to charge one of them up after a long ride. The low light indicator is definitely a good feature to have as well as the fact that the light dims when the battery is getting low. If you ride after dark a lot than this light is a great investment. Also, I was able to use the REI member's 20% off coupon which made this light much more affordable.
There is also a step up to this light that is 800L that doesn't cost much more, however 600L is more than enough light for me without the additional battery drain the 800 has.
