The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
We used the box on our maiden trip to transport our camping gear. We probably took a few items that were not needed and thus the box was a little overloaded. We had two tents, six sleeping bags, a mini BBQ grill, charcol, firewood, six camping chairs (three adult and three child), and a few other small items. So it takes alot which is great. The box opens at the back so that makes access to the front impossible. You need to be on teh side of the box to access the front. However the hinge then is in the way and makes accessinbg the front tricky. opening to the side would probably be better.
Service and delivery comments:
Product was delivered to the Sandy, Utah store quickly and the store employees were very helpful. The box was in mint condition when deilvered.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
I recently purchased this cargo top for my large SUV to provide additional space for our long distance ski trip. We traveled from Houston, Texas to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a total of 1046 miles each way. Although the only bad weather condition was a day of snow, the Sportrack faired extremely well. There was enough room for all of our bags and no leaks. My only concern was that the lip on one side of box did not close all the way due to the size of the cargo, but it had no negative impact. No problems traveling when empty either. Easy to install and great product for the price.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
BLUF: GREAT VALUE! No reason to break the bank on a Thule or Yakima.
Installation couldn't be easier. Four U-bolts attach with two specialty nuts each, no tools required to mount the Box. (Although, when first installing, you may need tools to adjust your crossbars to fit.) Box is light, easily lifted by one man... but it's awkward/large, so a second set of hands helps to manage it. Worked perfectly on my wife's 2008 Honda Pilot. Installed Roof Box looks like it's made for the Pilot. Fit to vehicle is ideal. Totally stable at 80+ mph. Impact to fuel economy was noticeable, but not unreasonable. I got 19.7 mpg over 1200 miles without the Roof Box, installed the Roof Box, and got 17.9 mpg over the same 1200 miles... so the added drag cost ~9.1% in fuel economy.

This is a great box and price!!! I was so glad I waited for this product. It was on backorder for awhile and I was trying to compare all the different brands, sizes, demensions & was pressed for time. It's a very large box and we just used it for a camping trip since we were unable to take our large truck and used our SUV. I was pleastanly surprised as to how much we could get inside this box. We packed 4 camp chairs, 3 sleeping bags, 2 [@] sleeping pads, 1 bag of games,2 duffle bags and 3 (deflated)river floating tubes. Once you figure out how to pack it, it works out fine.

We just used this for the first time for a 520 mile trip. It was wonderful. It fit all our suitcases, cots, and them some. You can't feel it on your car as you are driving, and it withstands wind. It's super easy to install, and use. It is wonderful, and I'm extremely glad I purchased this. I would recommend this to everyone.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
We are a military family and are relocating from CT to WA. We needed some extra storage room while traveling. This cargo carrier holds a lot of stuff! It fits great on our Pathfinder, is lightweight, and was easy to install. Our trip will be about 3800 miles. We are on mile 3000 and it is still on there tight and no rain has gotten in. Truly a great product. It will come in very handy when we use it for trips closer to home also. I think it will hold a lot of camping gear. Right now it has a jogging stroller, pack and play, pillows, and lots of other miscellaneous items.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
Bought to store our luggage because of a large family! Drove 2000 mile round trip through rain storms, heat, and cold weather and everything stayed dry! I compared this model to the Thule and Yakima and it was cheaper and just as solid! Save your money and buy the aftermarket version!

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
I bought this for our Jeep Cherokee. It fits on the factory roof bars perfectly. We used it on a trip from Oregon to Southern California in the winter. It went through a pretty heavy snow storm and did not leak. The road was very icy and therefore bumpy. The mounting system handled it fine. I found it to be very stable at interstate speeds. At no point did anything get loose.
It opens from the back, which makes getting at stuff in the front a little tricky. I just open the car door and stand on the sill and can reach every part of it.
The spring loaded plastic props are of some concern. I'm not sure they are very durable. Having only used this for the one long trip, I cannot speak to the longevity of this piece.
We loaded it down with about 100lbs of luggage and boxes. It carried the weight just fine and I noticed no distortion at all. The bottom of the box has ridges molded into it for strength. They worked great.
I'm very happy with this box and look forward to using it again.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
I did mega amounts of shopping/research online trying to find a Thule or Yakima roof box at a good price that could fit most of our luggage (family of 5) while traveling. That put me in a 18cu/ft+ category and shelling out around $500 to $650+ for the brands mentioned above. I was unwilling to pay that much and could not understand why those suckers cost that much. With my frugal mindset, I found this at a few sites and chose REI because of the good price and free shipping to the store near my home. We took a 1300+ mile trip over Christmas 2012 from CO to TX and back through snow/precipitation. Our luggage stayed dry and the box intact while driving 60 to 85 mph in our GMC Yukon. This mounts easily to the factory mounts on our Yukon and Suburban. You will not be able to fit skis in this box and probably only the shorter snowboards. It seems to be designed for luggage made with a higher ceiling and shorter length when compared to the other brands (rear opening only with 1 lock). Anyway, no complaints yet and it did what I wanted at a great price. One note, REI has this listed in the review as "SportRack Aero XL Roof Box by Thule". I did not see any reference "by Thule" when purchasing nor can I find one now. The paperwork received with the box does not reference Thule either. It seems to be made in the USA, company is in Granby, Quebec Canada www.sportrack.com
Service and delivery comments:
Free delivery in about a week to the store which saved money. REI staff was friendly and cheerful in the Englewood store. Packaging and item received in perfect condition as expected.

Comments about SportRack Aero XL Roof Box:
Just used this to complete 1900 miles of driving to visit family for Christmas. We drove through rain for a day and white out snow conditions another. The only snow or water that got inside was when I opened the box and some blew in. I also borrowed the same model from a friend prior to purchasing and it handled our gear extremely well for a family camping trip. Easy to install by yourself.
