Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I had high hopes for this product, but was dramatically let down. It was very poorly made. The legs did not support itself or my pot evenly at all. I came close many times to spilling my just boiled water that took twice as long to boil as the manufacturer claims. The manufacturer also claims that it has a max burn time of 24 minutes, but my best time was 16. For the same price you can buy an aluminum alchohol stove that comes with its own windscreen while only sacrificing a few extra ounces.

Worst Performing of all Alcohol Stoves

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

One of the worst performing of all the alcohol stoves available. Blows out easily, heats poorly--yes even with a wind screen & reflector below the stove. Don't waste your money (like me) on this stove. [@]

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I bought this "stove" a year ago with high hopes for it: light, small, easy. And it was. Light, small, easy. But the folding legs were welded askew on the stove body making for a very unstable cooking platform (which it is anyway, without the manufacturing defects, because it is just tiny) and the thing leaked like a sieve. I just threw it in the recycle bin I was so mad.

Really poor manufacturing, really, really poor and frankly I cannot understand why a high-end outfitter would carry this thing. It is just terrible. Yes, it is way cute and I really wanted to love it too, but it's just a mess. When you have a Chinese factory make stuff for you, you had better only be paying for the stuff that passes quality control. Vargo isn't doing that, he's shipping everything, the good, the bad, and the terrible.

You'd be better off with a candle. Do not buy this stove.

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

The manufacturer does not adhere to any quality standards. I had to re bend the legs and mounting right away just to level the stove on a table.
Product is extremely light weight and is a plus on weight savings.
Unit needs a wind screen and a base to add to stoves stability.
Stove takes about 9 min to boil 2 cups water and burns for about 15 total.
Excellent for just heating up water.
Hard to balance a stainless cup on the unit.
Expensive for the quality needs improvement.
The soda can stoves burn hotter and are about the same weight. Save the cash use a can until they improve the unit.

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I love this stove. Extremely light, compact and crushproof. You MUST make a windscreen for this (and any) alcohol stove. I made one out of a large cashew can with some small holes ringing bottom and 4 big nothes on top edge. I now set the pot on the windscreen. In 32 degree WX I can heat 3 cups water to "piping hot" in under 10 mins. 1 1/2 cups rolling boil in 7 mins.
I have had no trouble lighting the stove with windscreen.
Alcohol stoves have about half the heat output as canister/ whitegas stoves. I use mine only to heat water. If you need alot of boiling water or like to cook, alcohol stoves may not be the best choice. If you just need hot water they are great.
Combine that with extremely light weight and no moving parts(very reliable), they are a serious choice for backpacking.
My Vargo with windscreen weighs 3 onces. Fuel is about 1 ounce(weight) per fill up.
If you are new to alcohol stoves, remember the flame is hard to see during the day. Since you have to transfer fuel, be very careful nothing gets spilled or splashed on anything other than the stove. If you have any idea that you splashed, dont strike a match until your clothes, hands, shoes are dry! Alcohol does evaporate quickly. ONLY put stove on ground, because alcohol stoves can tip and spill.
Alcohol stoves are reliable, light and fast and Heat food and water well.
The Vargo alcohol stove works for me.

This is lightest stove I have tried. Lights great and the heat is excellent for its size - but wind will kill it, even the wind of you moving around it. My home made soda can stoves stay lit better.

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I'm a big fan of REI but I'm amazed they carry this hunk of junk. The legs are welded on crooked so it's unstable and won't produce a proper flame. My pepsi can stove is hotter, more stable, and certainly cheaper. Don't buy this. I'm serious here: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

Took this stove on 3 day trip to Mnt. Whitney, used at high elevations and it worked great. Lights easy, wind is an issue but we just brought a small amount of tinfoil and wrapped that around the base of the pot and the stove and had no problems. It did use more alcohol to boil water at 12,000ft than at base camp 8,0000ft. Would use it again.

I love this stove because it's super lightweight and you can use fuel tabs or alcohol. I would recommend using a wind screen to increase efficiency. The legs are alittle unstable for my pot.

Comments about Vargo Outdoors Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I use this in warmer weather when I really want to go fast. You can use alcohol or fuel tabs. This stove takes about 9 minutes to boil water, and doesn't do well below about 40 degrees, but it is VERY light and so is the fuel. This is an adaptation of the Pepsi can stove, only much stronger and more stable. High recommended for fastpackers and thru-hikers.
