    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the Job Done I purchased a higher end MTB that didnt come with pedals, supposing that I had my own pedals to pair with the bike. I didnt, and I dont really care for the "extra advantage" that clipless/clip-in pedals offer, so I bought the cheapest metal pedals REI had to offer. They are quite light, less clunky than the Wellgo ATB / BMX pedals in the same price bracket. They grip your footwear fantastically too, and I wont ever have to worry about the grip wearing out. I could install them easily without any special tools, just an adjustable wrench. Took me a bit to figure out that one pedal threads "righty-loosey, lefty-tighty" though, as I have never threaded new pedals before. The pedals do exhibit some rolling resistance in rotating around the center shaft. Probably a cheap bearing/lubrication design. I can live with it though, Im out to have fun, not break some world record. One of the plastic reflectors sheared off when taking the bike for a test spin, but I ride trails, so I ended up taking off the tacky plastic inserts anyways. The pedals look sleek now and I just wear lots of lights if riding around traffic in low light conditions. A very happy MTBiker who does not have to concern himself with pedals and the like when tearing up some dirt, I am. In theory, these could be used for more benign outings such as on a family bike that sees mostly garages, sidewalks, cul-de-sacs, and grenways, but they would definitely give your beach cruiser a more aggressive look with the teeth of the pedals and all. EDIT: I didnt even realize that the sides were asymmetrical until I read some other reviews. I like the "trained them to sit in the right position with a piece of heavy metal" technique that someone mentioned. I probably wont go to all the effort though, as I never noticed it in all of my rides so far. Kudos for engineering, though. J. Spindle

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Junk for the price My old peddles rusted over the winter on ym commuter bike so I needed a quick fix and bought these. They seemed ok in the package, nice and light weight. However the barrings feel like there is gravel in there. The "top and bottom" and bottom are different, one side has a smaller foot platform so if the peddle is flipped from the comfortable side it is too small and feels odd while placing a pressure point in the middle of my foot. Overall these are not a quality peddle, even for a quick fix.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from cheap and light Put these on my mountain bike for XC. They were ok, but the grip just wasn't there when I needed it. My feet kept on slipping off the pedals. Would recommend it for casual biking, but that's it. Then the real problem came when I tried to uninstall them. (pedals installed by REI and I am aware of thread directions) The right side pedal seized and I ended up stripping the 15mm head and the allen head. So, now there's no way for me to get this pedal off. (Metal too soft? I don't know)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Minimal, functional pedals I got these to replace the pedals that came with my Cannondale Bad Boy 9, which didn't allow me to install toeclips. I bike 25-40 miles on the weekends around Seattle - Mercer Island, West Seattle, Lake Washington loop. These pedals are simple, minimal and functional which is exactly what I was looking for. They work will with my Adidas Sambas. They were pretty inexpensive too. I have zero complaints so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for replacing I got these to replace what my mountain bike alreaady had. I wanted to add the straps and my pedals didn't work with them. These were cheap and heavy duty looking. They are great and work great for my straps on my bike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Got these to replace the old resin pedals on my MTB that I'm overhauling. They are good in the sense that they are metal cages and frames. Haven't ridden the trails with them yet so I can't say how durable they are but based on the gauge of steel they are, I don't foresee having any problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good to go Bought these to replace an older pair that wore out. These are great pedals for the $. If you're a casual or comutting rider, these are great for on or off-road use. If you're hard core riding, get something a bit more high end.
