Comments about Travel Chair Easy Rider Chair:
Bought this after suffering through several cheap chairs purchased from a discount store. This time durability was my #1 criterion. I sat on just about every chair at the local REI store and purchased this one because:
- It seems built very solidly, particularly with respect the the fabric (e.g., the thick reinforcements around the tubing, and the padding in the wrist area). Most of my other chairs tend to fail at the tubing joints, but this chair has added protection in those areas, which was a major plus for me.
- Unlike every other chair of this type that I tried, this one doesn't allow my back to sink far down into a deep C shape, which becomes very uncomfortable very quickly. The design of this model keeps my back much, much straighter, allowing me to sit for extended periods. Perhaps for this reason, I also find that my legs are slightly further forward, which makes them feel more comfortably positioned with respect to the forward edge of the seat (I'm 5'-11"). This makes it easier to get into and out of the chair.
- This chair provides straps (pictured) on the back of the arms, which allow the arms to be raised to a comfortable height and prevents the backrest from slipping off the tubes. None of the other chairs I tested had this feature. It makes a significant difference in comfort when the armrests have that extra height. The arms themselves are very comfortable, and none of the stitching anywhere on the chair feels overly rough or chafing as on some cheaper chairs I've tried.
- The tubes of the backrest are designed well apart from each other, so my shoulders never feel like they're digging into the frame.
- I love the overbuilt design of the carrying case (pictured) and its easily adjustable strap. Feels like a military-grade duffel bag.
The specifications included with the chair and available on the manufacturer's website differ from the specifications listed here by REI. Most importantly, as of this writing, REI lists the weight at 11 pounds. This is in fact an 8.5 pound chair. The dimensions are also slightly off.

Nice chair, cheap, lightweight. I wish it had two cupholders instead of one.
