Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
This stove CAN use the small bottles or the bulk tank.
The last reviewer must not have looked.
The adapter will allow you to use any large Tank, direct hookup or the small bottles. This stove is great for any camping or tailgating application where you are not packing in. The extra BTU heat comes in handy for boiling water...

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
Read comments below before heading to store and was highly suspect of product. Unpacked in parking lot and trialed with 10# bottle. No creaky hinges or broken parts were noted. Attached regulator to bottle hand tight as per instructions and tightened stove end with adjustable wrench. Opened bottle slowly as recommended in manual to avoid low flow safety setting (govt mandated safety feature) which is probably addresses one of the complaints below. Much to my relief no blue flame jetted out from the side. Now that I have the stove I wonder how it would be possible unless failure to tighten hose occurred and leak check was with open flame. Stove worked wonderfully on 6 day river trip. Used to prepare meals for 13 hungry folks twice daily. Heated 3/4 full scrub buckets to hot in less then 5 minutes. Try that with grand dads Coleman. Don't know about using with disposable bottles but works with 5-10-20# bottles with supplied hose and regulator. Wish stove was a little thinner so that it would not take up as much room in dry box. Love this stove.

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
I purchased the Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove from REI after an extensive search for the all around "best" buy. I was truly impressed with this stove and the amount of heat it delivered in such a short period of time. When I compared the Camp Chef to my old Coleman Stove there was no competition between the two. The Camp Chef got water to a boil in less than half the time of the Coleman. The Camp Chef WILL take BOTH tank and bottle propane. However, from my experience, go with the tank because the Camp Chef will drain the bottle fairly quickly because of the amount of BTUs it puts out, especially if you using both burners. I found that the securing mechanism for the side flaps were far superior to that of other stoves as they are "buckled" in rather than having just a "tension" securing system. You might spend more, but you will not regret it as this will probably be the last stove you have to buy.

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
My goal with this stove was to be able to quickly prepare large meals when we are camping with friends. I had my chance a week ago and was disappointed. The LP hose connector going into the stove had a leak that ended up shooting a nice flame out of the stove towards the LP tank.
I was not to be deterred and exchanged it for another one this week. Being much wiser now after my experience of not having a stove on our trip last weekend, I cooked breakfast on it this morning. No flames this time! However, the regulator was so sensitive that it barely put out any heat. I could also see a small amount of leakage from the same problem connector as the first stove.
I cross-checked the reviews here with a review on Amazon and see that the person on Amazon had similar problems. The regulators are not manufactured by Camp Chef, so I wonder if they got a bad batch from their supplier?

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
I use this stove for everything from family camping trips to 3 week Grand Canyon rafting trips. I have seen stoves costing twice as much that do not put out as many BTU's, have no better temperature controls and a smaller cooking surface (this stove has about 26 x 14 inches to cook on). Buy the collapsible aluminum accessory legs they don't cost a lot and they are very handy to have at times.

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
The Camp Chef All Terrain I received came with a 3/8" hose with a regulator attached and nozzle for the larger propane Tanks. Camp Chef website does not recommend using the smaller 1 lb bottles of propane. I imagine this is because of the BTU output of each burner, 20,000 per; and with both burning this would cause a freeze up of the small tanks. However if you only need to use one burner at a time, you could easily use a one pounder. Caveat: an adapter is needed to hook up to the small tank. One such adapter is the Mr. Heater Propane Grill Steak Saver Adapter. It converts the large tank fitting into a disposable tank fitting allowing you to keep the regulator attached as well. otherwise the unit appears sturdy, well built and the burners are far enough apart to fit larger pans/skillets/wok if desired.

Comments about Camp Chef All-Terrain Stove:
This stove only uses large 20 lb. propane tanks, thats a little misleading for a camping stove. Not versitile, only good for car camping. No adaptors are made to use other sources of fuel.
