Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
I want to retract my original review. As of that writing, I had maybe 150 miles accumulated on the pedals. They are closer to 250 miles now and need replacing. One cage is mildly deformed after the bike fell over while leaning against a wall. Not even a real crash. The other pedal is developing play on the spindle.
They are still inexpensive compared to other designs and I would use them on a commuting bike, but not much else. They just don't hold up.

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
I ride an Arriba-S that's 15 years old. The pedal screws popped off during a ride this spring and a small tear appeared in the metal cage. I decided it was time to just get new pedals.
I bought this pair assuming that a "rugged" pedal would be fine for my needs. Imagine my disgust when I looked down the other day and saw that not only had a screw popped out, but that the cage had twisted up on top of the pedal.
Old/original pedals: 15 years of use with 1,000s of miles and in all conditions
New pedals: 1 month of use with under 140 miles and on paved trails
I'm returning these for replacements and preferably another brand that can hold up better on "rugged" sidewalks.
Bottom line: I wouldn't pay more than $5 for these pedals.

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
i am an everyday commuter, riding five to ten miles round trip to work and elsewhere. my local bike shop recommended these pedals with the powerstraps i bought, and now after less than a month, two screws have fallen out and the pedal has been completely destroyed. the weak metal has bent and broken under the pressure. though i admit i ride my bike pretty aggressively, this shoddy construction has put me in a position of having to go buy an entirely new set of pedals. THESE PEDALS ARE NOT FOR STRONG CYCLISTS!!!

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
I had purchased these as a reasonable substitute for the classic SunTour GreaseGuard pedals of yore. After a few years of light use on city bikes and backup mt bikes, my 11 yo son began using these on his Mt bike, riding cross country and moderate downhill trails regularly. I glanced at them this week and saw what looked like wadded aluminum foil where the cages used to be. No, they were the cages! They easily bent back to somewhat normal, all screws were loose, but able to be tightened. We will leave them on to determine lifespan with an 11 yo (85 lbs) pilot! The grease injection port is great, though. I will loctite the screws and cannabalize other pedal cages to keep that feature!

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
Just save your money up for clipless pedals. The second day out they were deformed greatly. They might be good in an area where there are not a lot of rocks/boulders but in Arizona not really an option... but I had to put my original plastic pedals back on until I could get the clipless.

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
When I bought and installed these pedals, they looked, felt and spun like a decent platform pedal. The first day, the left pedal became stiff, and didn't spin as freely as new. Thought I'd wear it in a bit. That was 10 miles. Second day, rode 5 miles, and noticed some jiggle in the right pedal, as the left peddle got stiffer. Jiggle in right increased exponentially during the next mile, until the right pedal came off the spindle. Good thing I used toe clips, or the pedal would've fallen off in the middle of traffic! Held the pedal on with the clip, and road 3 more miles to the nearest local bike shop. By now, the left pedal is very hot and nearly froze. 10 minutes after removal, the left pedal was completely froze.
After 42 years of riding with toe clips and platform pedals, I've now switched to Cranks Brothers egg-beaters, and am now a mostly-satisfied cleat-wearing rider.

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
Cruising downhill this past weekend with these brand new set of pedals and a rock grabbed my left pedal and it completely trashed the pedal. Not recommended at all.

Comments about Wilderness Trail Bikes Momentum Flat Pedal:
Inexpensive, but not cheaply made, bear trap style pedal. Great for city riding where you may be on and off the bike a lot and don't want to deal with cleats. I've been off road riding for a LONG TIME without feeling the need for clip attachments. If you race, that may be another story. The bear trap design allows me to pick virtually any footwear and still get a nice grip on the bottom of my shoe / boot.
Good choice for a limited budget a rider wanting flexibility in footwear.
