Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
This was my first time trying freeze dried food for an upcoming month-long trip in the lowlands of Belize. The product was better than I expected; together with the self-heating oven that's also sold by the same company this will be a great alternative and less difficult than trying to get a stove onto an airplane. Sometimes you just really miss a hot meal after spending the day in a poncho in the rain. I should have taken pictures of the actual stew but we were so hungry when we got home it was gone before I got the camera out. I will be trying the other flavors next.

I like Mountain House, but this one leaves something to be desired. The "beef" just isn't very good.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
Love other Mountain House meals, but this one is terrible! The vegetables were OK, but the beef was horrific! I don't know why they don't use the same beef they use in beef stroganoff, but I will never eat the bee stew again. Ill stick with the ether flavors!

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
I am fairly new to freeze dried food. I was a little apprehensive about it. I was very surprised at how good this was. It's way better than Dinty Moore (that bar wasn't set very high). I would maybe eat this if I wasn't backpacking.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
This Beef Stew is like a down comforter when you've been hiking in the rain, set up, and finally get under that rain-fly. This is a star when you don't want to make a production of a meal and just want something hot and filling. Not very flavorful, but the ingredients really hold up well, even the potatoes were still potato chunks. Like the other reviewers advise, let it sit a few minutes longer.
Even if your a gourmet backpacker, bring one for the convenience.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
Very tasty backcountry meal. Remember this is a freeze dried/dehydrated meal, but as such, these are the best tasting you can get. the meat and sauce in this meal are excellent.
Please note these meals are specially formulated for high physical stress situations. Do not eat these meals at home, they are designed for on trail consumption to replenish what your body needs after a big calorie and electrolite burn.
I can't say enough about the Pro Pack series. They are the PERFECT size and the vacuum packaging really cuts down on the space required in your backpack yet still has the handy ziplock strip and same great taste.
I highly recommend these meals as best of breed (for taste, convenience, portioning, and consistency) for backcountry meals.

This was my first dehydrated meal. I was really surprised at how tasty it turned out. Way better than MREs I had in the service. I have had this for a mid day hike snack/lunch. Very filling and packs light. Provides good energy for finishing a long day hike.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
This is a standard choice (along with the beef stroaganoff) for myself and my 12yo daughter.
You can added instant rice or a packet of freeze dried corn to it for those nights you are really hungry.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew Pro-Pak - 2 Servings:
We ate nearly every Mountain House entree on a recent backpacking trip, and this was our least favorite. We burned out very quickly and had to force ourselves to continue eating. The texture and flavor left something to be desired. Adding extra water and letting the meals "sit" longer than the instructions called for was helpful. The meal started out very hot (it helped to have a bandana to use to insulate our hands from the hot package), and stayed warm almost to the end -- we were eating in temperatures in the mid 50's. We added a bit of olive oil to improve the flavor and add calories.
