I ate this for my dinner on the last night of my recent backpack trip- right about the time I was craaaaaving a pasta and it's carby goodness. This did not disappoint!
I was very curious how this 'meat sauce' would look, and it was tons of little mini meatballs. Perfect! I only wish I had spent a bit more time stirring it post-cooking as I ate them all first, hahaha.
The portion is perfect for one hungry person- definitely not two which of course is pretty standard for these backpack meals. I was very hungry and was starting to get full when there was about half a cup or so left, so- just right.
Someone described the pasta sauce as being a bit like spaghettio sauce- which isn't too far off- but this is more like a high-class version of spaghettio sauce.

I was amazed at how good it actually tasted. Given, my first time tasting it was after a long day of climbing, after realizing we hadn't packed enough food for our trip.
I was at the top of a long vertical face me and my buddy had just climbed. The climb was more than we had anticipated and we found ourselves at the top just before sunset. We didn't have time to get back to the base so we had to camp with no tent or sleeping bags or anything we would normally bring with us for this type of situation.
This meal was what we had to eat and a single cliff bar.
We split this meal and it was amazing how uplifting this warm meal was. Would have been nice to have two whole bags of it at this point but we each got the 200 calories from the single servings which wasn't bad. Didn't sleep a wink that night but this was a small bit of pleasure in an otherwise grueling outing.
Delicious. Very healthy. Gives you a nice feeling of comfort after a long day. Inexpensive. As a final note I would suggest you ignore the serving size and pack one per person per meal just in case. It sure would have hit the spot to have a full bag of this to myself that night..

The wife and I just did an 8 mile fday kayak trip and wanted a hot meal before heading back we enjoyed this for lunch totally hit the spot. easy to prepare , tasted great!! and refueled us for the journey back to the dock.

Very good meal, better tomato flavor and more meat than canned. Use 12 ounces of water; with a pint it will be soupy. Only down side is high sodium - very salty, but flavorful and easy to make. Stir well, because the stuff sticks in the corners of the bag and may not absorb unless you stir after 2 or three minutes to move the noodles around.

This is one of their better meals taste wise, and one of my favorites. If I know I'm having it again I might add just a touch of garlic and basil, but it's pretty good right out of the bag. As others have noted, it's supposed to be a two person meal, but if you're hungry you'll kill a whole bag no problem!

Not bad for freeze dried.
Needs a bit of flavor if you want more than plane Jane taste. Suggest you bring spices. Would give 5 stars if extra taste was added somehow.
When cooked, quite good, despite being a bit bland. Good to go for the casual camper as well.
