Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

As others have said, this is definitely rice and chicken, in that order. The majority of the meal is rice with some chicken thrown in for flavor. That said, rice is a filling and easily digestable food and I've always found rice to be a good choice when I need something to fill me up and keep me going, so I don't think it's a bad thing that this meal leans hevily on the rice.

Overall, the flavor is more bouillon cube than fresh chicken (which I think is why others have noted the saltiness), but one can't really expect a freeze-dried meal to taste like fresh food. As these meals go I found it quite good. As far as the pimientos, I'm not terribly sure why Mountain House bothered other than for appearance; I certainly couldn't taste them, but at least they didn't detract from anything either.

With a bit more chicken and a bit less bouillon powder this might be a 5-star meal, but even at 4-stars it's pretty good.

Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

It has been said in other reviews. This meal is salty, but I, my wife and son enjoyed it. We have been doing weekend trips and trying out a few meals at a time. This is our favorite right now. And as others have said it is salty, but good.

Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

I'd even go further to say it's the only flavor I actually enjoy eating. Yes, it is salty, which I understand since I am not a big fan of salty foods. But after a long day of hiking and sweating I don't mind getting some extra salt.

Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

My main focus is keeping emergency pantries at home and office. This entree can serve as a quick shot of comfort food or as part of a full meal. Either way it provides two satisfying portions so this is one I'll keep in stock.

This entree is vaccuum packed so it won't become a food balloon at high altitudes.

              Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt and the merchandise was well packed. No reason to use customer service.

Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

This is one of the better Mountain House meals. It might be a bit to salty for some people. But all in all it is a pretty safe bet for backpacking trips. One thing to note is that this is Rice and Chicken not Chicken and Rice: it is mostly Rice with some small chicken bits hear and there.

This dish was really quite good. It tasted like rice a roni with chunks of chicken. I was easy to eat with a spork and didn't need any spicing up. I will be buying this dish again.

Portion more than adequate for two female backpackers. Has great flavor and chicken is tender (though not that much of) and we all really enjoyed it. Chicken and rice dishes are always one of our favorites when backpacking.

Comments about Mountain House Rice and Chicken - 2 Servings:

Many of the other reviews are spot on. What I found to be most disappointing was the near lack of chicken. It's pretty much a giant mound of flavored rice with a few unassuming specks of chicken thrown in. On a positive note, at least the rice is tasty.

I would recommend passing on this one and going with some favorites such as the Beef Stroganoff, which has good portions of beef, and the Pasta Primavera. Happy eating.

I love Chicken Teriyaki with Rice and thought that I would give Rice and chicken a try. I thought that it was too salty and that made it hard for me to eat.
