The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
I ate this after a brutal, rain soaked hike into the Smokies and even that was not enough to make this stuff palatable. It tasted so bad I could only eat 1/3 of it. I was mad that I wasted the water hydrating it then had to pack out all the leftovers.
Mostly potatoes, salty, oatmeal consistency - Yuck.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
If you like salt this is the meal for you. A pasty mash of gray ooze this stew has all the culinary pleasure of a salt shaker dredged in glue. While preparing the meal I accidentally sloshed out some of contents on a rock. With so many little critters and birds in the area it was sure to be picked clean by morning. Only it wasn't. Our wild friends wouldn't even touch the stuff! Spare yourself this misery and choose something with actual flavor.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
It's fine if you love peas and salt. The pouch I had when made as the directions said mine was a pasty green and so salty all I could choke down was one bite.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
This isn't bad, and I'd buy again. With that said though, it is a bit salty in flavor. Not sure why they did that, but it may have a little too much. A little pepper I brought also hit the spot. Anyway, this was the only freeze dried dinner that left my stomach feeling full. So, other than the slightly salty flavor, it was a good meal.

This stuff is good, but I'd not recommend eating it by yourself. Lots of sodium.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
One of our family favorites. Easy to prepare, little clean up and hardly any trash afterwards. The cook in the bag meals are the best for backpacking. If water is a limiting factor, then these are for you. No washing dishes, just eat out of the bag(s). Our kids like it too, but we all like it better if you add a vegetable like peas, corn, or green beans to package and add extra water. Package for two really only serves one, especially after a long day hiking. I'd recommend doubling up.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
I liked this stew a lot. Very satisfying, decent amount of meat. The peas added a lot. Salty, like all commercial freeze-dried meals. The potatoes needed about 12 minutes to get soft. They were sort of spongy-tough after 9 minutes. I stirred every couple of minutes to avoid dry spots in the corners of the bag. Then I ate every morsel.

O.K. last time I ate this type of food was in the Army in 1992.Compared to that style MRE this is a 10 out of 10 in terms of taste. My 11 year old daughter, my wife, and I enjoyed this while Hike-in camping at Afton State Park here in Minnesota. Says it serves 2 and I would agree.I'm 255# and I could eat a whole one w/bread and be full after a long day hike but for you average size folks it should do just fine.Good results in bag or on stove w/lid top. Good seasoning not to heavy and good veggie/beef ratio. My daughter loved the gravy and at 11 shecan make her own (supervised). Wife liked the reduced pack weight and enjoyed the taste but added salt/pepper. If you are just getting started on this type of food, put this brand on your "try" list. It is the food we now have on our supply list.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
I was cold and hungry; at the time this meal hit the spot. For backpacking food I would definitely recommend this meal. Its not as good as mom's, but I couldn't expect it to be. The only thing that prevents this meal from 5 stars is the texture of the potatoes; they were different.

Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew For Two:
Mountain House Meals are the best tasting camping meals that I've tried. They are simple and tasty. They are easy to make. You just heat some water, pour it in the pouch it comes in, close the pouch, and let it sit. Then you can eat it right out of the bag. There's no actual cooking or clean up. All you need to do is heat water which is great after a long day on the trail. Plus you don't have to carry any other ingredients. They are leightweight and easy to pack. They have a long shelflife. We even keep them on hand at home for emergency food. The lasagna and beef stew are our favorite varieties.
