The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

In the words of Ron Burgundy, this thing smells like pure gasoline.

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
Bought one of these, figured for the price if its a gimmick I'm only out a few bucks. Turns out, its perfect for pre, mid, and post-climb workouts. My grip is stronger, my cramps aren't as bad, and its easy to carry pretty much anywhere. I might pick up a few more, keep one in the car, one in the office...

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
Good product, doesn't get dirty like Power Putty, builds good grip strength and allows you to grip with one or more fingers to isolate.
Downside is it only comes in one resistance which doesn't help those that are stronger or weaker than the average person and... MY BIGGEST ISSUE WITH IT, when squeezing down, it puts a lot of pressure on an isolated part of my palm, which after a minute or so, gets a little tender.

This is an excellent, durable trainer that you can take with you wherever you go. On the plane, in the car, in class, or whatever.
Just throw it in a backpack or carry-on bag. You can get pumped pretty quick with this ring, and it's going to last. I've had mine for 3 years and it hasn't really changed.

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
I can flash most 5.12's and cant remember the last time I fell off a 5.11 when I wasn't pumped out. I didnt boulder much until recently but am into V7's...all indoors. I usually climb about 3 hours a day 5 or so days a week.
I picked this ring up because it was half the price of the other trainers and I wanted something for when I'm on vacation and can't climb.
Putting it in my palm i don't think I could wear out my hands/forearm. If you use your finger tips instead of fully gripping it then it's decent resistance; good if youre going to do a bunch of reps.
But I think the best use is probably training 2-3 fingers at a time. Then it's pretty good resistance and I could see it giving a good pump.
I can crush it using my pointer and middle finger but it's too much for my ring and pinky to handle.
Hope that gives a good idea of the resistance.

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
I was a bit skeptical when I picked this up at REI 3 years ago, but I got it anyways and after using it, I would definitely recommend it. I use it mainly when I'm driving on the highway and for getting some blood flowing when I'm in the library studying (college student).
After three years, it has looked better and it is stained from sweat and the rubber is starting to crack, but none of this effects how it works. I keep it in my center console in my car and use it whenever I'm driving. You can use this and squeeze all fingers at once or one at a time. You can contract it quickly or hold it for some time. Come up with a workout and just as long as you use it, you will get stronger.
I highly recommend this if you want to work on your grip and forearm strength for climbing or any sport, or getting some blood flowing.

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
This is a good grip trainer for beginners. Most people will only take 2-3 weeks to develop enough power that this is too easy. I'd recommend the grip pro trainer instead, since its available in 3 different resistance levels. There's 3 different types of grip strength: crushing, pinching, and holding. This trainer almost exclusively trains the crushing strength - which has little transfer to climbing. However it is useful for other things.

This product is fantastic, just the right amount of tension and rugged as hell! Product does what it is made to do, and has lasted me a year with continuous use and no signs of wear.
Highly recommended.

It looks and feels like a dog chew toy. Not terrible, really, but it stop being interesting in 15 minutes.
Better than a foam ball, but I prefer power putty to this.
On the plus side, it fits nicely on the gearshift in my car so i can play with when traffic is bad....

Comments about Black Diamond Forearm Trainer:
This little guy is awesome and the price is right. I picked this up at my local REI because of all the good reviews and I was not disappointed.
I started climbing (indoors) a few months ago and found that after a couple hours on the wall my forearms would be totally gassed and I could barely grip a water bottle, much less a hold. I picked up this trainer and now I do them in the car on my way to and from work. I started out being able to do 100 reps per hand. A few months later and I'm up to 180 reps per hand. Now I can go to the gym and climb for 3 hours straight and my forearms are fine. The grip endurance used to be my weak point. Now, because of this trainer, those days are past. Now I need to toughen up the pads of my fingers :)
Bottom line: This forearm trainer is cheap, durable, and effective. Buy it.
