      This is a good, basic compass with an adjustable bezel. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it has the important basics. I occasionally get a bubble in mine at higher altitudes and in cold weather, but it doesn't make it unusable.

        I bought this compass in May of 2007 and used it on one backpacking trip that summer. I have no complaints about the function of the compass on that trip. Since than that one trip, this compass has been sitting on a shelf in my bedroom closet. While recently going through my gear, I flipped the cover of the compass open and discovered that half of the fluid had leaked out! I am disappointed to say the least.

        I was hesitant to spend $20 on a compass, and I shouldn't have. This compass leaked out the suspension fluid while in AC storage - just a few months old. This was just a waste of money. I have a high-quality compass and GPS, but for knock-around and orienteering I will go with the least expensive card compass, which is what I should have done in the first place.

          You can't go wrong with this compass. Easy to use and waterproof. This is a great compass. A small compact compass. Great for being used as a first compass.
