Great Saw

This saw is very popular with arborists. I've had one in my camping/hiking setup for about 4 years now. I mainly use it for firewood at camp, but have also used it for some tree work at home. Very sharp and easy to maintain. Also very durable. After heavy use I soak the blade in mineral oil when I get home, then use a brass brush to clean saw teeth.

Samurai sword technology comes to the hand saw

This saw is superior to any hand saw that I have ever used, and I have used it extensively since purchasing it for pruning work in my yard. Ease in cutting, light weight, and compact size make it ideal for use in tight spots and when working from a ladder where establishing the direction of fall of a limb is critical. Although expensive, I consider it worth every penny I paid for it. The design of the cutting blade helps to keep the cutting groove clear. Naturally, you have to make your cuts strategically so that the weight of the limb tilts it to keep the groove you are cutting in opening a bit to prevent binding as you approach the break-off point, Cutting occurs mainly on the backward (pulling) stroke of the blade and you will hardly be conscious of applying any downward force on the blade; the design pulls it down into the cut. Despite the large blade tooth size, the cut is exceptionally smooth in surface. I expect the impact-hardened teeth to remain sharp for a very long time.

great saw. REI’s packaging need work

I already know this is a great saw. Have had one before. Got another one now. They are built well, cut well, look like a samurai sword. My beef was that it’s not a big item and yet it was packaged in paper filled box fit for a much larger item. Something like 24x15x5. For something that is 18x2x2.

best all around saw, not for beginners very sharp

I have been using this saw for just over 7 years now and it’s by far the most comfortable saw I have used for multipurpose use. Way more durable then a folding saw and lightweight. Highly recommend, but treat it with a lot of respect as out of the box it is extremely sharp.

Saw of choice by arborists aloft.

I swap between this and the Silky Sugoi when climbing. This is a seriously sharp saw. I’m more weary of my hand saw than my chainsaw when aloft. You get confident making fast, efficient cuts. Add a little fatigue and poor judgement…
