Comfortable and versatile everyday sandals
Love Chaco's Mega Cloud sandal! The wide strap found on the Mega Cloud makes it very comfortable and super easy to adjust to fit my narrow heel and normal toe splay. Yes, Chaco's are adjustable (read the instructions in the box.) Great arch support. Great cushion. No toe thingy so I can wear wool socks in the winter time. I ended up cutting the straps and burning the edges since my low volume feet caused the strap to drag on the ground. I am looking forward to many years of use. Perfect for outdoor wear whether I'm at the beach surfing or in the mountains hiking. If you crave arch support, Chaco's are the shoes for you. They're worth the $$$$.
Wider straps didn’t work well with my feet
The good: Years ago I tried on classic Chacos but found the footbed too hard on my foot. The Cloud versions feel great and I give this five stars. I also never once doubted my footing while wearing these - the traction is great and my feet were pretty secure in them. The bad: I adjusted the straps every which way and just couldn’t seem to get them just right. The heel strap always felt a little loose and it rubbed my pinkie toes. Even so, the straps are comfortable and I figured they’d break in so I wore them on a few short hikes. Each time I noticed the straps were overlapping my pinkie toes in such a way that they rubbed as I walked. After the third time wearing them on a roughly 4 mile walk around a lake, I decided I had to return them. I had hot spots where the front strap (closest to my toes) rubbed near my pinkie toes and near my big toes. I was also noticing the footbed felt a little slippery? It was hard to put my finger on it, but something about the fit on these didn’t work for my foot. I wound up exchanging for the Z2/Cloud (the 30th Anniversary), same size, but with thinner straps and the toe loop. After fiddling with the straps in the store for a few minutes, I feel like they’re made for my foot. The toe strap really does add a lot of stability so I do encourage people to check those styles out, too. I think these are a great sandal, just not for me.
Best sandal...for 4 months
I've had several pairs of Chaco's in the past, always the classic footbed and the thinner straps. After reading the reviews, I went with these for my next pair. Out of the box, they were SO COMFORTABLE. Like, I could walk many miles/day in them without any discomfort and I marveled how much lighter/springier the footbed was and how soft the straps were. "I'm never going back to the classic footbed! The wider straps are so much easier to wear!" I said happily. But...after wearing them for a few months, I started noticing - the straps were fraying quite a bit and the footbed wasn't springy anymore and sort of worn in places. I pay ~$100 for Chaco's because I expect them to last for a few summers, but I don't think I'd buy these again because they're not as durable. Which is a shame because they were SO comfortable!
I LOVE the wide straps
I wear nearly nothing but Chacos due to lots of foot troubles over the past 8 years. (3 surgeries this past winter) Some sandal styles don't have enough arch or cushion for me. These do. The wider bands keep my feet far more secure & in place without cutting off circulation. Also, these pair seem to restore the tradition of providing enough width between the heel strap connection area without having to seek overall "WIDE" sandals. Thank you Chaco. I'm so tired of hot spots wearing at those points on the the inside. These sandals are comfortable on concrete and on slippery surfaces over long term walking. I wear a women's 10-10.5-11 depending on the fit & style of footwear due to long toes + narrow heel + high arch combination. These fit perfectly on my feet in a size 10 with about 1/2" of sole edge on the front for protection against bumps.
Blisters
I heard great things about chacos and was disappointed. I tried them on at the store and what got me was the sole support and durability. However after a couple months, I learned that this sandal was not for me. The straps are too long so I have to tuck them in behind the buckle and it scrapes the outer part of my ankle. I have also gotten multiple blisters from wearing this. Unfortunately, will not be buying chacos again.
Very comfortable!
I LOVE these shoes! I once tried a pair of chaco sandals with the toe strap, but found that I was constantly trying to adjust the strap throughout the day. The thicker strap on these is much easier to adjust and allows for good stability. Having plantar fasciitis and arthritis in my feet has me always on the lookout for a great pair of shoes and I’ve been very happy with these.
Mega Z is the best
I just wore the Flip Ecotread until I got the Mega Z Cloud. I love the wider band, and the Cloud platform is so comfortable under foot and still gives great arch support. I love them!
Really didn't think Chaco's could get any better..
Then came the Mega Z/Cloud sandals!!! The Cloud footbed is my go-to when buying Chaco's and I have had numerous pairs over the years. The Mega Z with it's wider straps is amazing and I love them. Extremely comfortable and easy to put on and just go. Great for hiking and walking from streets to the beach.
I love these sandals!
I love these sandals. I purchased them with some trepidation, as I had read that they take so long to break in. My break-in period was much shorter than the bloggers predicted. (Only one week.) I broke in the sandals both with socks and without, and today ended up hiking 4 miles with them in the rain. I did wear socks for the hike, and the sandals were great. Absolutely no pain. And after nearly 11 miles in total, my feet felt better after my hike than they do after a typical 11 miles in trail runners or running shoes. In all honesty, the treads do not manage slick, muddy trails well, but I did not purchase them for that reason. I have terrible bunions and very wide feet. I did not purchase a wide, as the straps fit perfectly around my bunions. The length fits true to size.
finally found chacos that don't give me blisters!
My first experience with chacos was absolutely terrible,I had the ones with toe loops and got horrible blisters. After wearing tevas for a couple years I decided to try again with chacos because I love the arch support and was pleasantly surprised! My new everyday shoe!
