Comments about Alite Mayfly Chair:
When I initially saw the Mayfly I was excited. I am a therapeutic wilderness excursion guide and spend between 6 and 14 weeks in the field each season so having a good lightweight seat is certainly a bonus when compared to wet ground or cold hard rocks and logs. I was very pleased at how easy it set up, how quickly I could break it down, and how comfortable it was initially.
However after only two days in the field I was greatly disappointed to find that one of the aluminum support rods had snapped and rendered the seat less than useful and so it was back to the wet ground for my posterior.
Certainly not what I had expected out of a product that was nearly $120.00 and received so many great reviews. Again I was horribly disappointed.

Comments about Alite Mayfly Chair:
Verrry clever, comfortable chair and because it's so light and easy to carry, I'm more likely to bring it along.

Comments about Alite Mayfly Chair:
After lugging around a 40lb. pack for the last couple of years, I've decided that camping/hiking would be a lot more fun and less painful if I downsized my gear and went lightweight as much as possible. My goal was to get my base weight down to around 12lbs. for a 3-4 day hike. I've accomplished that and realized I didn't want to sit on the ground all of the time and decided to buy the Alite Mayfly. I was excited to read that the chair was 1lb, 6.4 ounces and decided to get it as kind of a luxury item. The chair arrived a couple of days sooner than expected and felt a little heavier than I anticipated. I weighed the chair and the included stuff-sack at 1lb, 10.8 oz. (chair 25.3oz , stuff sack 1.5oz) I know that a few extra ounces don't matter to many people, but if you're trying to go as light as possible like me...every ounce counts. The chair was easy to assemble and felt very stable when seated and even slightly rocking in it. I'm 5'6 and 140lbs. and was very comfortable in the chair. While seated, there was a good 1.5 inches between the bottom of the seat and the ground. The included stuff sack is very well made and durable. All in all I'm very satisfied thus far.

Comments about Alite Mayfly Chair:
I had originally purchased the REI Flexlite Chair and returned it after my first experience with it. The Flexlite's legs would sink into the soft ground making the chair unstable and unusable during an already miserable rainy two-night excursion. I purchased the Alite Mayfly and I could not be happier, no problems with backcountry soft ground campsites! It takes a little practice getting in and out of it being so close to the ground but that's a non-issue even for my 54 year old bones... I set my stove on the ground next to the chair and relax during the meal process. Two thumbs up to the Mayfly!
